How do we have corrections made on my wife's green card?
They spelled her name incorrectly.

Your wife has to go to the district office with the card and have them complete a new I-89 (I-90?) so that a new card can be made. Since it is their mistake you should not be forced to pay for it.

Paying isn't the hard part......it's the getting there at 4am and stand in
the line forever to go inside and wait forever to get a number.......etc

There is one and it is called InfoPass. Go to the USCIS website and follow it through. If your district office is part of it you can make the appointment online.
