How can get a visa for Green card holder's spouse?

Hi,
I have a Chinese friend who just got his temporary green card (a stamp in his
passport). He's going to go back to China to get married soon. My question is how he
brings his wife to the US. What kind of visa she should apply? I heard she might have
to wait for years to get into the US. Is this true? Is there a way for her to get to
the US first and apply for her green card within the US? Your help will be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks, Alex

Unfortunately - unless she get a employment visa or a education visa of her own, as
the spouse of permanent resident she would have to wait several years to get a visa
to come to the US and adjust status and receive a green card. The current wait for 2A
preference visas is about 5 years. http://travel.state.gov/visa_bulletin.html Take

Hi, Shelley,
Thank you for your information. Except for the green card, my friend still has a
valid H1B visa which expires in next July. Do you think his wife can apply for a
H4 visa at the American Embasy in China and wait for the adjustment when she's
in the US?
Thanks again for your help

No. The H1 visa became invalid the moment your friend got the I-485 approval.
