I'm quoting from Doc Steen's site about DCF: "In this circumstance, the U.S. citizen
marries the foreign fiance (either in the foreign fiance's country, in the US, or in
a third country...the location does not matter as long as it is a legal marriage) and
applies DIRECTLY through the foreign U.S. consulate for the spousal visa."

Link to Doc Steen's site: http://www.mindspring.com/~docsteen/...o/visainfo.htm
Choose the following links from the menu on the left: "DCF: Which Visa" The list of
documentation is also available on this site. Hope this helps, Ranjini

Ron...every state has different rules. ask your fiancee to call city hall in the
place where you plan to be married. She will need to purchase a marriage license and
they can tell her the requirements. In Minnesota it is birthcertificates, photo ID's,
$150 cash, wait 5 days....it's all in that kinda neighborhood. and don't forget the
wheel of goooou-dahhhhh cheese for your mother-in-law. good luck and congratulations!

OMG...$150 US and a 5 day wait for a marriage license in MN? and I thought MD was
outrageously expensive at $55 US and a 2 day wait!

it's a 10 day wait if you pay by check I guess they are just trying to keep out
the riff raff

Ron...marriage certificate is what you get after the marriage vows to prove you are
married. marriage license is like ondertrouw

Re: droste.....my mother was in a small Dutch grocery store and she wanted some very
nice candy to bring back home to Minnesota. So she asked this Dutch guy next to her
in the candy section.....what is the best chocolate? ......and he pointed to a box of
Belgian Chocolate!!!! Eileen

We didn't need birth certificates to get a marriage licence. All I produced was my
passport, and my husband his drivers licence. Ranjini

Each state has different requirement for marriage licenses - some do require Birth
Certificates, as well as copies of past divorce decrees or death certificates of
former spouses. You should check with your county clerk's office to be sure of the
requirements in your area. Take Care. Shelley
