Default Faxing TSC/TSC concern

Has anyone ever sent an inquiry via fax to the TSC? How do they
answer your qestions? By return fax? By telephone? Do they answer?

Here is the problem. Received a USPS return receipt for my husband's
I-751 removal of conditions dated October 16, 2002. Up until now
still have not received any kind of notice or receipt from TSC. Now
my husband's conditional green card has expired so I am more than a
little concerned about his status. Does anyone have any suggestions?
PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks!

I'm in the same position, our USPS receipt for the I-751 was 10/10/02, no
other receipt/extension of gc received. If you get a copy of the
processed check (for the I-751 filing fee) from your bank, you will get the
'receipt number' for the case. It will begin with SRC.. Also you should see
an INS stamp on the check so you can see when they processed the check. You
can use the receipt number in your enquiry to them.

When I had the receipt number, from the check, I called the enquiry line and
was told they had received the petition, that it was entered in their
system, and that it was 'awaiting processing'. I made that call back in
November, the officer I spoke to would not say they would mail out another
notice of receipt. Since then TSC have been infamously slow and there has
been no progress on I-751 as far as can be seen.

So long as you filed within the 90 day before expiration of the gc, I
believe you are still in status, just have difficulty if you need to prove
it. You could go the the nearest INS office with the check copy as proof of
filing and request they stamp your passport, I haven't tried that. Nor have
I had a problem, as I haven't needed to travel outside the US just now.

If you know the check has *not* cleared, then I would call them using the
date on the USPS receipt and see if they have the case entered in their
system. If they don't then then I don't know, might be time to find a
lawyer.

Thank you so much for your reply...it makes me feel much better. For
some reason I sent a money order for the fee instead of a personal
check. I guess that was kind of dumb. Anyway, I was able to find out
that the money order was cashed and on what date it was cashed, but I
would have no way to see the receipt number.

I really appreciate the reply! Thanks again. Mary

It sounds like they do have you on file then I would call them and try
to use the date of the USPS receipt and the date of the money order being
cashed to identify your case. At least it would set your mind at rest if
they tell you it is entered in the system. I don't know if they would tell
you receipt number over the phone though. (Also if it is your husband who
is applying to lift conditions they might only speak to him so maybe you
should get him to call). If the operator tries to brush you off then be
gently persistent to get as much info as you can. The operator who took my
call didn't want to volunteer *anything* except answers to exactly what I
asked and no more, but at least she was polite and listened to all of my
questions without appearing to be in too much of a hurry to get me off the
phone. Good luck with your case.

we were told at the local INS office that if we file and dont hear
anything in time, to go to the local INS office with proof of filing
removal of conditions, they will stamp the thing then and there.
