The only engagement ring my husband wore was the big smile on his face!
I think it's a GREAT idea, though!!

I got a ring for my fiance too, but it's shaped differently than a wedding band. When we're married, he will wear it on his right hand while the wedding band is on his left

I wear a engagement ring. It's the ring I'll use when we get married.
We picked it out together. Mostly I wear it for her. I wear it on my
left hand. If anyone ask if I married, I say yes. That's all they need
to know. Good luck.

Re: Engagement rings
My fiance wears a ring on his little finger of his right hand. It matches
one that I wear in the same place. We refer to them as engagement rings even
though the placement is untraditional.

Interesting topic
Personally I don't wear rings. I was an aircraft mechanic in the service and used to wear one. One day I reached behind the 'dashboard' to check something and shorted out an electrical connection with my ring (24 volts). By the time I got my hand free, the ring was red hot. So, I said "Darn, I wish that hadn't happened." After the medics cut the ring off, none other has gone back on.

Re: Engagement rings
Instead of an engagement ring, I promised Pete that I would get him an
engagement present - a 12 string guitar that he wanted. However, since we had
a small ceremony in England last March to wed, and are having a large marriage
blessing ceremony this year in the States to celebrate our union, we are doing
ring vows in front of everyone at the States ceremony so we do not have wedding
bands yet (that and the fact that we didn't have the money for them when we
married). Instead, I wear my engagement ring, and Peter wears my college class
ring, which fits his little finger on his left hand (and for some reason
British people think it's a man's ring anyhow). But I bet if he could wear it,
everyone would see that engagement guitar all the time as well. I'm starting
to call it, "the other woman".

My friend in Asia wears an engagement ring (wedding band) on his left hand. He said once married he will move it to the right.

There was a lag between the time I got engaged and when I got my ring (had to be made). And in that period, my guy kept saying how he wished that he could have a symbol that showed the world he was engaged.
So, when he finally gave me my ring, I gave him one. Got down on my knee, pulled it out of my pocket and asked him to marry me. It was a beautiful moment and he's delighted to have the ring as a visible reminder - especially since we are in different countries!

My fiance' and I have matching engagement bands and we both where them on our right hands. He's been saying he had a wife and daughter since he put it on
We'll use those for wedding bands too. When we get a little money under our belts we'll have rings made.
