EAD IN JUST OVER A WEEK WHAT CAN I EXPECT ?
Hey all,
I have my work authorization Interview in a week and one half, Can
anyone tell me what I can expect when I attend this Interview. Like ,
What will they do? , what questions will they ask? , how long dose the
process take?
Will I actually come away from that Interview with a Work
Authorization Card or will I have to bring documentation with me to
the Social security office in my local area to receive a temporary
social number untill the AOS interview ?
Basically any information about the process would be great.
Thanks.
Mick & Samantha.
PS 4 weeks now till our son is born , were both equally as nervous as
excited.

There is no EAD interview. It is an appointment actually and nothing more than that. You will go to the INS as directed, place your appointment letter in the box at the front of the room and wait for your name to be called. You will be asked to sign a little card within the small box indicated, place a single digit fingerprint on the same card, and then wait a little more. You will be called again and this time your photo will be taken. Then you will wait a little more until you are called again and then you will be given your EAD card. Bring the letter with you and your passport for identification purposes.
At the SSA office you will complete the application, hand it in and they will check their database. If your name is there, they will start the process immediately. You can call their 1-800 number in a few days for your social security number and your card will come in the mail. If your name is not in the database, then you will have to wait until they verify your status with INS. This can take one week or eight weeks.

PS You can't work with the EAD card without a social security card. But you are half way there with the EAD card at least. BTW there is no such thing as a temporary social security card. The number you are given is yours for life.

Hey, Rete. The first SSC you get has that "only valid for work with INS authorization" on it. When do you get a card that doesn't have that on it? Is it after CPR is lifted or can I apply for a new SSC now I have my green card?
