I firstly want to extend my deepest heartfelt sympathy to the people, family,
friends and loved ones who's lives that have been so tragically effected by last
Tuesdays attack on America. I as a Canadian residing in PA, was in shock and
disbelief watching this whole thing unfold, as well as being pretty scared myself. I
think America is a wonderful country with extraordinary people from coast to coast,
and you will all prevail and survive this horrific attack and will continue to be
the giving helpful country that you have always been. I as a Canadian have always
admired the Americans and know now first hand where that admiration comes from. You
all should be so much more proud of this great land for the efforts and the way
everyone has pulled together form coast to coast to give each other support during
this tough time. I will not hesitate for a second to join the forces of proud
Americans, once I am wed and permitted to take the American Oath. My prayers are
with you all. A Canadian friend.

As I have indicated I am here in America with my fiancé, our plan is to wed as soon
as possible, but we both at this time are not sure of the steps we need to take once
we have married in order that I become at first a legal resident. In reading some of
the posts it seems there are so many forms and papers to fill out its overwhelming.
If anyone would be so kind as to outline step by step the process we need to take, we
would both appreciate the help, along with some idea of timelines we can expect.

Thanks to all for the help.

You have two options - either a K-1 visa (for fiancés) or since you are in the US you
can do I-130/I-485 AOS together from inside the US. For the K-1 see www.k1faq.com For
the I-130 see http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill...806/index.html Also Doc
Steen's site as mentioned by Girl Canada is full of information, tips, and examples
of documents for both options. Take Care. Shelley

You may want to consider joining this group, which is for Americans/Canadians going
thru the visa process to move to either country.
