Default Brit marrying US citizen - what needs doing?

I'm a brit, living and working in California on an H1-B visa (with about another year on it).

I'm marrying a US citizen at Xmas and we're wondering what has to be done.

The immediate concerns are is this marriage valid in the UK or do we have to go other there to officiate it or fill in application forms of some sort, or do we need to inform any British offices.

Then there's the further-reaching concerns of what do I need to do to get a US Green Card and does my fiancee automatically become a UK citizen?

My parents/sister now live in France (we're all expats!) so going back to the UK would be more costly as I have nobody to stay with and no postal address.

If it makes any difference, my grandfather was actually American, but my father never applied for citizenship.

Any help with be a comfort,

Simon.

Simon.

If you marry in the USA, it will be recognised in the UK, and vice versa.
