Unhappy Biometrics appointment letter. How long?

I just called 800 number and they can't process my AOS case because my biometrics were expired. The customer service rep said that I'll receive a new appointment letter soon.
How soon - he doesn't know because NYC office is very busy with appointments for biometrics at this time.
It was 4 months since I had my AOS interview.

Fingerprinting is valid for 15 months, I believe. When 15 months have passed since you last had them done, you'll be notified to go in and have them done again.

Best Wishes,
Rene

Rene - do you know if it's possible to ask for a biometrics appointment if the 15 months are nearly up but one wants to travel?

I don't know. I suppose it's possible to ask, not sure they'll accommodate though. They'll probably tell you to wait for the appointment letter.

It was a week now since I called 800 number and found out that they can't approve my case without biometrics.
Didn't receive an appointment letter yet.

i was at Federal Plaza a week ago with infopass appointment and tried to find out the reason for delay to approve my AOS case. So they couldn't even see in their system the reason why it still pending. Not on 3rd floor nor on 8th.
Then I called Vermont Service Center and they said that my biometrics expired. Receipt for I-181.
I'm so pissed now.
