AOS interview finally scheduled :)
YES!!!!!!! I finally got the long awaited letter calling me (And hubby
of course) for the interview for AOS. The date is April 11, almost 18
months after filing.
My Timeline:
August 13 2001: Filed I-485, I-130 etc in Omaha, Nebraska
August 11 2002: Renewed my EAD in Des Moines, Iowa
September 13 2002: Fingerprinted in Des Moines, Iowa
March 2003: Medical Scheduled in Iowa City, Iowa
April 11 2003: AOS interview in Omaha, Nebraska.
I'm a little surprised that the interview is to be held in Omaha,
Nebraska, since we have been told that everything else but the filing
would take place in Des Moines at the application support center. Ahh
well that is just a minor thing, but hopefully not a bad sign.
My bg story:
I came to the US December 1997 on the Visa Waiver Pilot Program to
visit then a good friend and his family for christmas. After having
met and spent some time together, we decided to get married and I
never left. Due to circumstances we didn't have the funds to file the
AOS back then, but had to wait until 2001 to file.

Congrats! I'm in a similar situation as you are. I was wondering what kinda docs are you planning to take to the interview? I am kinda lost in here ... and do you know what kinda questions they ask on your interview. All everyone says "routine" questions ... but I was wondering about that "routine" questions. Please let me know if you know anything about it.

I don't know about what kind of questions, though I think it's very
run of the mill like when and where we met normal things like that. In
my case though, I am expecting a question or two about the time
between marriage and filing and marriage and now. Could also be that
they don't ask any other questions, but those obvious ones, like did
you come to the US to commit terrorismn etc. I'm really not expecting
too much (Or at least I"m trying not to *g*)
In regards to which papers we're planning to bring,
Employee letter from hubby with an additional statement about me being
the beneficiary of the life insurance he's got through work.
Statement from current landlord about how long we've lived here (and
copy of joint lease)
Letter from the credit union about joint account.
Wedding pictures (This is all we've got, since hubby doesn't like
getting his pic taken)
Letter from fam about how long they have known us as a couple (I'm not
totally sure about this one yet)
Updated affidavit of support (We've filed joint tax returns for at
long as we possibly could)
Medical form and record of my shots (Having that done next week)
A letter from my doc in regards to an issue which could become an
issue at the medical (I doubt it, but doing it just to be safe)
All originals of birth certificate, marriage certificate (and other
copies we sent to them) etc
My passport (they already took the I-94), EAD
....... and whatelse I can think of that'll be good to have (just in
case)
