Default Is anyone upset with how they are living?

Or are we the only ones that have had to move because of the timeframe that we had set our sights on?

My best friend, wife (the alien) who is living in Germany waiting for our K-3 and K-4 visas approval, has had to move because she had given her notice that she would be leaving by years end. We filed back in June, right after our wedding. We filed our I-130 then our I-129F when she was here. Then we got an RFE that moved our recite from July 31, to Nov 17th.. We are beyond day 160 and counting. She will only be able to stay at her present lodging til the end of Feb. then she will have to move again! She also is without a job, which only lasted til years end.. Time and Money is running out like water..

When you talk about VENTING.. take a deep breath, back up one step and start over.. this is getting well beyond getting OLD!

replys welcome..

Hi Sid and Angelika,
I'm so sorry to hear things are not going as planned. It really is a difficult time for everyone going through this process. One thing my fiance and I kept in mind from day one, was not to make any long term plans or arrangements, since we didn't know how long this all would take. When I started out, my attorney told me she thought 6 months at the longest. It's now been almost a year and we are just now ready to file Packet 3. I'm glad we never made any concrete arrangements.

We miss each other tremendously, no doubt. But I'm not upset with the way I'm living, and my fiancee is also carrying on life as usual. I keep myself busy with work, family, friends, remodeling the condo, and of course immigration research and work. He keeps busy with his own business and friends over on his side. We make tentative plans together for whenever we see the end of the tunnel.

We have our up days and our down days, ecstatic days (approval days!!) and frustrating days (3 months of security check delays!) But we never give up hope and never let the downs and frustrations keep us down for very long. We rant for a day or two and then move on. I've been through worse in my life than having to wait for the man I love to get permission to come to me. Our separation is only temporary, no matter how long it is.

I wish you guys all the best and that things work out soon for you.....Best Wishes,

Rene

I sold my place (complete in Feb) but the new owners are letting me rent it til May. I've really got no idea if my visa will be sorted out by then. If it isn't then I'll have to come up with a cunning plan, tough I'm not entirely sure what that is yet.

I should mention that I was planning on moving and had the house on the market before the K1 thing came along. At the moment I'm in limbo and am trying very hard not to think about time scales or even check my status online. So far I've been ok and haven't checked it once.

Has your wife got any friends or relatives she can camp with until she gets her K3? Can she register with a temp agency for some work? I'm a firm believe in the Ways and Means Act and that there's always ways round every problem that comes up.

Thanks for your replies.. I know that we are not unique, that people that are in love as much as we are will only focus on one thing, and that is spending eternity together, as it should be!

Yes she has her children, a daughter and son there in the same town. She has a friend that has offered her a place to stay until moving day finally does arrive, but that would mean moving back to the town she lived in prior to moving to where she is now! We discussed this before time, and have agreed that living in Bremen would mean a better opportunity for her to find another job. So she is where she is suppose to be, and Lord willing she will be able to find some work. Once she gets her paper word done for moving to a different town, she can pursue jobs with some different agencys.

We always feel like this is a giant test, and we must pass this by remaining patient and having our faith that all will be alright!

Thanks for listening.. Sid & Angelika

I know the feeling of insecurity only too well ! I rented an apartment for
what I thought would only be for 6 months max but I was so wrong so I signed
the lease again for another 6 months. my lease expired on November 27th
2003 and I had no intention on signing again for another 6 months but even
if I did my landlord had got another to move in ( he has to look out for
himself ) My son is only 7 and I was worried as to where I would be living
maybe moving him out school to another, what a worry !
We got approved December 12th ( K1) and now awaiting for interview date in
London, pack 3 was sent out 6th Jan but I still don't have it yet , maybe
Monday
Anyway I moved in with my daughter very small apartment but we manage but I
do sympathise as I am temping with the Police Force as admin assistant and
they have been very good to me, knowing I will be giving up my post there in
a few weeks .
Thing to do is keep the faith no matter how hard it is....and it is !

My fiancé ( Herb) has been wonderful He understands that my finances are
limited and that its hard not being settled but its all gonna work out and
we shall be together soon
I hate living this way full of uncertainty and insecure because of a temp
job and no real home ....Remember it's all temporary till we are with our
loved ones

There is light at the end of the tunnel

Good luck

I just moved to my new house (about 3 months) before I met my husband. Thinking about selling it back going to take months and lots of process. Furthermore the house have sentimental value to me coz' I got it with my hard working money.

When I decided to move over, I asked my husband if he can support to pay my mortgage, this include my house and car and also my study loan in my country - until I get a job in US.

For few months I came over, his salary just enough to pay rent, utilities, bills and some little extra for foods. To save money I cook at home everyday. It saved us a lot!

I think I am lucky that my AOS process went so well and even got a job easily with a very good pay. At first I was very nervous because I never worked in United States and English is my second language.

Now we are doing really well, planning to buy our own house at the same time I'm still keeping my properties in my country and pay it from here, and planning to visit my family every year on the festive season.

This is our hopes too! For everything to be approved, hopefully this coming week! Jan 17th will be 60 days after the RFE.. If this happens, then we can adjust our focus toward the interview.

Eventually when she does get here, she will be able to find a job. I still have my current mortgage, where my X is living. Once that place sells, then we will be able to buy our own place. This is our dream, our hopes, and our prayer!

Thanks Sid & Angelika..

I absolutely agree with you - not being able to plan for the future is making me crazy. In our case, we're both living here in Ireland (which is great and I feel so fortunate that I had some savings and could just leave my job for a year). But the logistics of moving back to the US are making my head hurt - the people renting our US house need 2 months notice, we need to find renters for our Irish house, we need to schedule a shipping company to send our things to the US... all of this takes advance planning, and the nature of this process is that we can't know anything in advance... So frustrating!

I want to thank each and everyone who replied to this thread.
I don't want to bump it up again but wanted to post sort of a positive update. No approval from MSC yet, but it looks like one of my major worries will come to an end finally. Hopefully I will have fulltime employment again....OK, it's a temp agency with minimum wage policy, but what can I ask for more right now?....There is a glimmer and I hope it will shine before this week will be over.
Once I got this job I will look into temporary furnished housing since I will have to move end of Feb. But with a job and living in a big city there are various opportunities.
I was crying while talking to husband on the ph recently....he started this thread...as a mean of venting. He gave me the motivation to hang in there and fight. Never letting me down.

Michelle, I was watching your struggle with your K1 to be approved. Special thanks to your post. And I am so happy you are beyond this now.
Thanks to all posters....

My husband has done the same - he is officially out of work and without a place to live as of April 1st. I keep telling him that the chances are good that this whole process won't be over with by then. All we can do is hope! He says he will just hop on his motorcycle and camp out in Spain until everything is ready. I stopped trying to explain why he can't do that... mostly because it was just jealousy...

Also, we were in Germany over the summer - beautiful country! It must be hard to leave! I know my husband has great reservations about leaving Europe (He's from Sweden). Mostly it's the travel he's going to miss...

Good luck, hope everything works out for you both soon!

I'd already sold my house - lock, stock and barrell so to speak - and only after my ex husband had given permission for me to take our 6 year old out of the UK - and then what happened? He changed his mind!! So, there we were with nothing ....... and of course we hadn't even started the K1 process at that stage ........ and on top of that we then had to fight it all out in Court - to say it was stressful is an understatement! Oh I remember very clearly the days of thinking "Oh what if the Court say no?" and then "What if they dont give me the visa?" Thank god those days are gone!! Remember - you WILL get there - this is just a temporary stage - a stepping stone - the more stones you step on - the closer you get.
