Default Anyone know a good fiancee visa lawyer experienced with Brazil?

My fiancee lives in Aiuruoca, mg, Brazil. This is 200 miles west of Rio de
Janeiro, in the mountains. It is near Caxambu.

She, and everyone else speaks very little English.

While I can read and do exactly what is required, it is very difficult to
communicate to her what she must do. There is very little internet access,
and she is very computer illiterate. I do not even know how to explain about
finding a fax machine.

If anyone knows anyone who speaks Brazilian Portuguese, and/ or has any
experience with filing a fiance visa from Brazil, I could use a little help.

If she were near a large city, it would be better, but as I said, it is a 5
and 1/2 hour bus ride into th emountains to her little town. She has to take
a 1 and 1/2 hour bus ride to another larger town just to go to a bank that
will pay out Western Union!

any help is appreciated,

tom

It seems you may need a lawyer either in US or in Brazil to assist you,
although many may advise the opposite. One often-heard question from
immigrant officers is, how do you two communicate to each other if
nobody can speak the other's language ?

I think somebody may come with suggestions or recommendation for
contacts, or how to look for a lawyer, or an agency in Brazil. There
are agencies which offer translation services, with authorization.

I call her every night. I speak Portuguese well enough for us to
communicate. I use the free translator from www.google.com.

I have visited her several times!

Communication is no problem. I have a lawyer in Aiuruoca that I have already
paid a small fortune to assist her, but he is very slow! At this point, all
I need is for her to get passports, birthcertifcates,a nd get them
translated. Then get me the copies, and sign the G-325a bio. I will do the
rest!

The problem is that she live 200 miles into the mountains, and noone there
has a clue how to get a passport, etc. This is what I need someone to
explain to her!

If I had these documents now, she would be here and we would be married
before X-mas!

Hello,

to get a passport she could go to any post office and ask for the form,
fill it in, take a picture 5x7cm, return to the post office and pay the
fee (around 90 reais) and then pick it up in a federal police office
that has jurisdiction over her place of residence.

birth certificates she can get in any registry office, there must be
one where people register the babies and get married.

the translation anyone who speaks english can do it and sign.

visit http://www.casamentocivil.com.br that is for assistance in
marriages in Brazil but she may help with the documents only.

some lawyers are slow only to charge more... this is something to be
done relatively fast.

good luck for you :)
