Hi Glasgow1,
I would like to chat with you in more detail about some of the avenues that you explored while going through AP. Is there an e-mail address that I can reach you at?
It has been 3 months now for my case, and I had already been working in the US for a year, and had left for vacation, hoping to get the stamp done within the 2 weeks I was expected to be away. Unfortunately, having been born in Karachi, Pakistan (but with a British Passport), I shouldn't be too surprised that I got selected for AP. Frustrated, yes, but surprised, not really. I understand AP is necessary to ensure safety at the US borders, and I am fully ready to comply with this process, if only the actual process itself could be made more efficient such that I could help in expediting it.
It is obviously routine for anyone having anything to do with Pakistan to be singled out as a menace to the world, and while I have come to terms with living with this fact, I still can't help but feel anxious that my entire life is on hold right now in the US. I am truly embarrassed right now with the state of affairs in Pakistan, and I wish there was a way for me to prove that I am no menace to society, but instead a hard-working, tax paying member of society with a highly skilled job. My apartment rent is still due every month, car insurance expenses, cell phone expenses, cable and internet expenses etc etc.. you know the drill. It is hard to function normally without having even the slightest idea of when things will work out. I know they say "please allow up to 3 months, and in some cases 6 months or longer", but clearly that time frame is even more vague in practice. I know there have been cases far worse than the 3 months I am facing at the moment, but I do not want to have to wait longer before I consider it "appropriate" to start diving deeper into the status of my case.
Let me know if there is a better way for me to reach out to you.
Thanks, and looking forward to some responses.

Hi there!
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you, I have been super busy!
To answer your question, YES I have finally receieved my Visa!! I receieved the package and all documents in June so we are planning the move as I type.
From my experience it has been a grulling ride and you have to be persistant.
To clear a few things up. Yes you can travel to the US under AP ( have done this 3 times) and NO it doesnt trigger AP all over again.
My visa interview was in London in April 2010 and I received my visa in June 2011.
I hired a lawyer in DC which I wouldnt recommend. As desperate as you might be they are pretty much useless (they dont have a secret number, a special contact etc) better save your money. Furthermore, I think I did more chasing up than he did!
Call the DOS in DC every 3 days and ask for updates. Try and build a relationship with the person on the phone, this helped for me. I talked to a guys called Jessy and and a girl called Fiona and they were nice, knew my case inside out and sent emails to find out why the delay.
Call the 090 number that is the US embassy number, it is based in Glasgow. Ask for an update (they probably wont have any news) they will give you a email address and code which is valid for a week and email them EVERY WEEK!
You have to be consistant and demand why they delay.
Furthemore, I emailed various high profile people in the US embassy in London asking for updates which I beleive worked. (spent a good few hours researching and finding email addresses.)
Lastly, The US Embassy in London wants to get your case of their desk (of they think you are safe and genuine). The reason for the delay is DC and their system.
The only way in my expereince that you can push this forward is putting pressure on the London Embassy and phoning DC.
I started this hardcore approach in April which I believe helped the process.
If you want any more info then let me know.

All you can do is wait. That is what everyone in AP must do. It will take as long as it takes... anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 years. End of story.
i tried to pm you but it didn't let me do that!.

Embassy do not deal with Visa's, Consulates do.
Usually there is a reason people are in AP.

I wouldn't bother emailing them. They'll let you know whenever they need something from you.

I have been in AP now for almost 6 months, and I have to agree with the recent posts that there is literally nothing you can do to to expedite it. If it makes you feel better you can e-mail the embassy regularly and call DOS etc, but I have found, at least in my experience, that neither really helped. I did e-mail the embassy a few times at various points of my process to inquire about my situation, but generally was greeted with fairly unhelpful and standard responses. Like others have said too, the consulate can't do much about AP - this is a process, as far as I understand, that gains clearance from various agencies and most of it is run out of DC.
All I can say is that you have to be patient and keep waiting. I definitely made the mistake of checking on my case status too frequently, and it caused me a lot of unnecessary stress. I have learnt this the hard way now, but after waiting for almost 6 months, I have resigned myself to the fact that at no point will I ever know what is really going on, other than the fact that I am "pending", and no one will really be able to provide you with any more color.
All the best, and feel free to private message me if you want to discuss any further.

HELLO.
I have been in Admin.Process myself for 7 months now. It totally sux!. I am a US citizen who applied for my fiance`'s visa (k1) july of 2010, and in June 2011 she had her interview at London Embassy. SHe is Pakistani as well. I have tried to get help with congressmen but there isn't anything he can do. I have called and emailed the embassy few times., I get the same answers. It can taake another 1 day or maybe months. I just pray to God that it get approve soon. Its a very hard situation we are in. I mean everything is computerized nowadays, i wonder what is taking 7 months. And the worst part is that no agency says anything. You are just put in dark! there should be a better way to take care of this. Life just is stuck!!
