Re: Would you do it all again?
Absolutely.
I know what I have done and what I have here. I have/can have all the material things I want. I can travel to anywhere I desire. But, most importantly I have a loving family and a circle of wonderful friends.I won't/can't live in a hypothetical 'what if' world. Would I have been as lucky/successful in the UK? I don't believe so.
God knows it's not perfect here but it's sufficiently perfect for my needs.

Re: Would you do it all again?
My answer was "in a heartbeat" because I definitely would do it all again...but as AX pointed out, I don't think I could if we're talking about making the move now, as opposed to 5 years ago, simply because of the current crappy exchange rate.

I'm in the "in a flash" camp when it comes to a different question, one which asked "would you live in more than one country during your career?"
Absolutely on that. I've lived in four and am going for a fifth asap.

THere needs to be an option for "it depends on the day"
I'm fickle like that.

Fair enough, but who mentioned the UK as the only comparator?

I think for a lot of people it’s that they think they can leave all their troubles and the monotony of existence behind only to find they follow you and with perspective, tedium turns out to be comforting familiarity.

On the subject of comforting familiarity I hate it when people tell me that I should go out of my 'comfort zone'. Wtf would I want to do that?

France the last one I suspect, but who knows, I may become immortal.
I've been in Ontario twice: 1982-86 and then 1993-present. A long time, but not too long.
As I said, hindsight is 20-20. I'd probably make other choices if I could run it over again.
But that is sophistry.

But there are certain things I (we) miss which can only be found elsewhere. (Not though in the UK).
I'm going to edit that: Not so much miss as desire to experience in the future.

I'm in the probably not camp, although I love Alberta, I don't love winter, I don't love my jobs, I don't love the tedium winter brings.
Had I known my Mum was going to be very ill with Cancer for the last 5 years, I would have stayed home, Had I known we were going to lose my In-Laws within 3 years of moving here I would have stayed home. Had I known my daughter was going to suffer as much as she has mentally I would have stayed home, although a lot of that was brought about by the re-emergance of one biological idiot that has given up again after just two cards Had I known that I wouldn't find a satisfactory PT job, I would have stayed home.
BUT the opportunities for my daughter are worth staying here for, the dreams we have are worth staying here for, the space and the laid back lifestyle are worth staying for, at the time we moved my Mum was thinking of moving to France, my sister was thinking of Portugal. I just wish sometimes we had been brave enough to try a new business in the UK rather than move here and being too nervous to try a new business here (atm).
I think we will move, but we'll probably try a different Province rather than a different country.
