Anyone in Calgary didn't have anyone to cheer for in the Stanley Cup anyway the Flames didn't even make the playoffs.

I tend to agree with the letter writer I thought he put it quite succinctly.

Of 45 national assocations affiliated to FIFA where English is the main language, 42 use the word "Football" and 3 use the "S" word (Canada, Samoa and USA). The "S" word was just Oxford University slang from over 100 years ago.

Pretty sure the Aussie's call it soccer, they seem to have their own brand of football as well. I just thought it was interesting to see how and why the term "soccer" is used.

They only call it soccer because they have their own version of football. It's an ironic name for a sport where you can pick up the ball and run with it. Obviously they couldn't use Rugby as that was already taken and is played by real men.

Soccer is derived from a short form of "Associated".
Back in the day, there were 2 codes of football - Associated Football ("Soccer"), and Rugby Football ("Rugger").

Of course it is - but it was Lord Vader who asked the question (I didn't see his video, so wasn't sure if it was a rhetorical question.)
Move along now, nothing to see here. As you were.

Switching topics and getting back to the actual games at hand..it doesn't look good for France.....Domenach's swansong....if only Blanc could have been the coach already
