Re: wine buffs, a little help please
Good question! Our eldest son works for Sumac Ridge in the summer which is great because we get 50% off any case of wine at each Vincor winery (Sumac is owned by Vincor) Anyway, all of the wineries I have visited are very good but if I had to pick a few favourites it would probably be:
See Ya Later Ranch (Okanagan Falls)
Nk'Mip (Osoyoos)
Poplar Grove (Naramata Bench)
Tinhorn Creek (Oliver) they also do great outdoor concerts here!
The best thing to do is arrange someone to drive you around. We use this guy http://www.ambrosiatours.ca/ And he will take you to as many wineries as you wish. If you don't want to choose then he will pick a selection for you - he is a great guy and pretty laid back. Many of the wineries tend to have great restaurants as well so it's worth visiting them for dinner.

This is my pick in the LCBO - having worked in a vineyard before you can not go wrong with this bottle if you like a nice red with a great price

And ... and ...
It's so bloody difficult to choose.

Yes, Nk'Mip and Mission Hill are very nice - haven't been to the others you mentioned yet but will add them to my Summer to do list

Gehringer Estates is a fairly major name in Oliver too, they've been around quite a while and advertise tours. I think they're right around the lavender farm just south of town.

Quails Gate we know from a couple of our recce trips. A lovely restaurant and it's where we plan to spend our first Saturday night after we've landed.

You might of mentioned that this is what we call a 'rose-eh' wine, and while my paltry stock of wine is predominantly foreign, the rose-eh is usually from the good 'ol OK.

Jackson Triggs does a decent Rosé.
NB Liquor doesn't stock it anymore.

+1 on the JT rose-eh! The way Vincor's set up they own vineyards in BC, the Viagra Penninsulin, and in Chile so if there is a crop failure in one or even two places they're still in the wine business and it allows them to blend whatever they want. They own a lot of labels so some wine that may appear to be cottage comes out of the big steel tanks. On the tour they take you through everything but the lab, and I managed a pic of that through a window anyway.

I know bugger all about wine. If it costs around $16 a bottle then ill buy it. I tried "little penguin" something or others. They were quite nice. If I'm taking one as a "gift" then ill spend $25 - $40 depending who its for. That's my criteria. There is one out called "bitch" though. This might be the new go to.
Circus Malbec from Argentina is superb.

So.....a white wine, thick and rich with legs? Something that doesn't rip the top layer of your oesophagus out.y

You should go over the border. When I was down in Seattle last week I picked up a couple of 3-liter (four-bottle) size boxes of a very cheeky cab for $12 each.

Looks close enough! Gewurztraminer (Blue Nun, as per above) is roughly correct too.
