Whos up for drinkies and hellos in Calgary?
 

Following on from another thread, if I remember rightly the last meet up was a while ago and a lot of us have moved here since that one!

I wondered who would be up for another (bearing in mind I will be kind of out of action for 3 weeks so if there is one wouldn't mind it being end of August time :thumbsup:)

Would love to tell you but i've never been - I live about an hour and a half away.

Littletashy I think is the latest addition to the Calgary clan having moved there about 6 weeks ago - so if you search for posts by her you will read her observations.

Also at the top of the page there is something called the WIKI, with everything you may ever need to know about Calgary there :thumbsup:

There have been many threads about Calgary, one started just a few hours ago. It's called moving to calgary hopefully.

Use this tip for searching for previous threads about Calgary.

There also are links to several forum members' accounts of Calgary and area in the Wiki article called Real Life Accounts. That article includes a link to a blog called Jan & Eam's News. They're actually in a satellite town called Okotoks, but that's close enough. I like many things about their blog, but especially the fact that it has lots of photos. A picture is worth a thousand words, as the saying goes.

The Articles section of BE also has articles by the following Calgarians (or almost Calgarians):

• Morwenna

• mushroom

The message under my User Name, in the top left hand corner of this post, should tell you what I think of Calgary. But there are lots of people who love Calgary.

Oh yes, there also are the nine Wiki articles on Calgary to which mandymoochops referred. They all were written by a person who had lived in Calgary for the better part of 30 years and who, inspite of her own jaded attitude towards Calgary, tried to be fair. Of those Wiki articles, the one that most directly addresses your question is the one called Calgary Pros and Cons.

seems like theres a bit of interest already!!!! I'm off for the next couple of weeks so if you guys would be so kind as to keep this thread going and get some names and tentative dates that would be good.

I can't do anything before 22nd August so some time in the last week would work for me. Once we have a date - we'll find a venue - like Tashys idea of a BBQ picnic thingy however the beers aren't allowed to flow outside so we may have to move on somewhere after (unless someone has an unfeasibly large decked area complete with outdoor kitchen and a pool would be nice :rofl::rofl::rofl:

We'd certainly be up for a Calgary meetup. We're landing Tuesday week, so unless everyone decides to meet before then, we'll be there!

I'm the weepy eedjit trying to walk off her sadness along the NW trails between taking the kids to the zoo and Licks on Memorial Drive. Feeling oh so lonesome (OH still in London) so if this is still on would be so grateful to be able to join in.
