Although I might have stated it less colloquially, I unreservedly agree. I might add that decent canapés are also a draw. I went to a particularly memorable wedding in the UK that had large wheel of exceptionally decent Stilton.
Over the years two spreads spring to mind.

At a wedding in Liverpool during the discotheque part they had a pig roasting outside with the best apple sauce.

Last year at a wedding in Czech- the food was ongoing. Main meal. Then BBQ, Pizza, Sushi. I never saw anything like it.

Terrible DJ mind you.

I've been to some swanky weddings but the best food was one in the US when I was dating a local news anchor. They had a carvery, two sushi chefs, seafood buffet with a 3 foot wall of shrimp, an omelette station and a bloke who was flambeing crepes in the corner. Plus a bartender who was quite wiling to pour triple gin and tonics.

I must say i was different when i was younger, always saw myself with a girl next door wife and a couple of kids.

Wasnt interested settling in my 20s (too much exciting stuff to do) 30s it never happerned even though i was actively looking, and now into my 40s....ive sort of given it up, and this is what life will be....so yes realisation has set in!

As for going to weddings for a good p!ss up, party and food, i cna relate to that one! Although most times i seem to have to tell the DJ what to play to get the people on the dance floor!

I think my supply of weddings are over now though....friends and family all a done deal, mind you there have been a couple of phase 2 weddings....but theyre never as good......no wheels of Stilton there im afraid.

You might want to look a bit further than next door for the girl or your wife might notice.

Of course, could have gotten into some real trouble and strife there (pardon the rhyming slang pun) Thankyou for pointing that out.
