Yes, but that doesn't explain why my own link from yesterday doesn't work for me today, when it did yesterday.

Maybe I'm just trying to find rational explanations for the irrational.

It seems reasonable that search result links would be time limited, if there is data that is stored in memory or in a database.

It won't be shareable, it's most likely a real time search on a relational database, hence the shift in searchid ...

I think he cried wolf too many times by deleting his account and then coming back. I'm just guessing here, but I think this was the final straw for the mods.

I can figure out most things by myself, but I can't for the life of me think why Siouxie would be banned? There must be some other explanation.

Yeah the search results are cached with a unique ID and will expire, that's why the links stop working after some time. Have to do a fresh search from the profile as BuckinghamshireBoy explained.

Not been answered yet. I know we cant talk about mod activity in threads, so I am not going to ask why she was banned, but I do hope admin or a mod come along soon, to let us know when she will be back.

Your link does not work for me, and I am fairly sure it won't work for anyone else, and might not even work for you any longer, though I think it will. It looks as though the "searchid" value changes every time you start a new search, and it's possible it is only valid for that one search period. It could be a feature / security thing so that you cannot do what we are trying to do and serve up the list of a users previous posts.

Oh don't get me wrong, I wasn't asking for an explanation of why Siouxie was banned, not only because we're not allowed to but mainly because I just find it difficult to believe that she was banned. I was thinking software glitch or something.

Anyway, whatever it was it'll be nice to see her back.

I honestly don't know the ins and outs of this, and haven't looked at her profile, but I do know that it is possible to set one's User Title to say "Banned".

Definitely banned I think. When you are banned, your karma button goes away. You can see the difference between her profile on her last post and the one underneath it.

Her profile says that she was a BE moderator for 10 years, hopefully she got to keep her pension and they gave her some severance pay.

I've just tried to send her a message as a continuation of a conversation we were having, and it came back as an error. User not found.

I'm getting less and less interested in BE as the days go by.

Have no interested in discussing the ins and outs of it, but just want to say I hope all is well with her and wish her the best for the future if she chooses to read this thread.

I can honestly say if it wasn't for her and another member/mod I likely wouldn't be in Canada now and almost certainly wouldn't be a resident.

Agreed Scilly... she was probably one, if not the biggest asset to this site, and to be banned for no reason is just ridiculous.

I too am getting less interested in this site when they ban all the helpful and kind people. She should start up her on expat site if they don't want her here.

That's not very likely is it? Board moderators typically only ban people if there's no hope of getting them to behave reasonably. I, for example, only got a suspension for whatever it was that got me suspended. If someone is banned and you don't know why, the reasonable assumption is that they did something worthy of a ban (running a sock, for example, or persistently insulting someone thin skinned) that you don't know about. The moderators aren't going to tell you, the banned person might, otherwise you just have to guess. Any guess is more probable than "no reason".

I should say, in case the poster in question is reading, that I had nothing to do with this. I'd ask what happened via facebook but I see that I've been unfriended.

I didn't visit the site for about 2 days, and it happened in that time, though it took me a couple more days to realise.

Maybe, but there could also be other factors behind the scenes that none of us know about. Just doesn't seem to add up to me, I got to know Siouxie pretty well, she didn't come across as a person that would insult, or purposely stir up trouble, shes had enough of her own personal issues with out causing anymore for herself and other people. Something is amiss somewhere. A guess is a guess, and "no reason" is as good a guess as any in the absence of any facts or anything else. This kind of thing happens in work places all the time....for "no reason", power struggles, some people just don't get along with one and other, that's a fact of life.
