I get so mad at the lack of vocabulary here, today I used the word 'potentate' in A room of 15 people and it was pointed out that nobody knew what I was on about....the daft thing is, that it was just a 'fun' conversation, but I realise that so many of us have to permanently pretend to have a limited word search.

What a depressing thought

I have found over the years this site in general (along with many I participate in) has gotten slower and less interesting. I remember at times where you could refresh the page and have quick responses and posts, now can go hours in between someone posting.
I think now that the internet is less of a novelty and more commercialized, people tend to spend less time on forums, its not unique to just this site, some I frequent went from very busy 10 years ago, to almost no activity now.

Gozit got a bit of a rough ride lately; I perceive the Maple Leaf to have got 'older'. Not really for me to say as I'm not in Canada, but I used to like dropping in as it made a nice change from the US forum and was fun. I can't exactly put my finger on why it has changed.

I kept getting in trouble with the mods for pointing out the obvious about NS and then there were lots of posts about how we had to be nicer from mods, so we're nicer, and now everyone's bored. can't win.

There don't seem to be any difined bullies any more; someone obnoxious we can gang up on. There are always going to be the mild antagonists, but there isn't the same level of nutter around.

yeah but a nutter needs a feisty BEr to wind him/her up, and we don't do that so much anymore.

I know what a potentate is. My Dad used to call my sister that when she was a child... imagine what kind of adult she turned in to! (I'll give you a clue: I have no idea what she is doing these days!!)

OK, so having read up about how some of you go checking out other parts of the forum I went on a little excursion to France...saw you there in fact Millie!
But it was so weird. As I grew up there, it was so strange to read peoples' comments about their fears and excitement... if I was to move there it would be like going home!
Strange isn't it?! It's all about perception!
