When and Why do you BE?

cosh(i.pi) reads as "hyperbolic cosine of the square root of -1 x the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter" to math geeks.
The funny thing is that it's also the wave function obeying Schroedinger's equation describing a particle moving in one dimension in infinite free space.

I wonder if in years to come we any of you will look back and say "hmm I wonder what happened to Novo / Oink / Bats / Bells" etc.
Probly not.

Joined in 2004 IIRC - cos it's nearly 10 years ago!
Was exploring options for moving to Kanuckistan, which I did on a WP six months later. I go through phases with BE, from posting and reading every day to several months of not posting due to work and life and the like.
Generally post from work, with much the same job circs as DBD - periods of extreme boredom followed by periods of extreme panic and workload.
I used to frequent the Canada Immigration and main Canada forums, but I rarely visit those these days. For me BE is great because its a great place to vent over the madness of Canada. Love you guys!

I tend to lurk around here periodically. I *think* I originally found BE whenever it was PR cards first came into effect & my application was stuck in limbo when I needed to make an emergency UK trip.
More recently (2011/12-ish), the MBTTUK forum was very useful to me, as was the USA immigration forum when researching info for a relative.
I have become fascinated, & slightly hooked ;-)
My immigration timeline is ancient: Summer 1995 applied for & received Quebec certificat de selection; December 1995 applied for PR; arrived Canada July 1996 (with 2 toddlers, 1 cat & 8 suitcases); validated PR status September 1996; the 2 toddlers grew up & became citizens recently. :-)

I originally signed up to ask about Citizenship timelines and appreciated the quick and accurate response.
Then I noticed a lot of misinformation about some aspects of life in Canada so stuck around to offer my perspective and limited experience to some of the threads which some other (long since dissappeared) posters seemed to appreciate.
Largely due to boredom at work I've posted on and off for way past my best by date. Somehow I was invited to be a mod (which I accepted so that I could return to edit my terribly spelled and composed posts indefinitely) and that was an interesting experience which probably extended my appearances here at a point where I was losing interest. However demands on your time change and I wasn't able to devote as much time here as perhaps a mod should, so I stood down, and now I am an infrequent/ occasional poster. One day I will break free completely, although the lure of a british sense of humour and perspective on things is hard to withstand

Its been interesting to meet some of the posters in the flesh, they never seem to be at all what you expect based on their online personalities; They have all been rather pleasant company so it probably doesn't pay to judge anyone by what they post here. Life it too short for that sort of nonsense anyway.

If you look at the members list, you can click on the 'joined' date and see who has been a member since the beginning. There are definitely some posters who have been here since 2001 that are still around.
