what's wrong with you lot?

Rae, engage your brain, there is a difference between an untargeted general lashing out, and calling someone a tosser. Ive no wish to close every contentious thread on sight, and I dont read all the threads all the time, nor do I wish to, but if you think Im going to ignore it when you call someone a tosser if I see it, then you are mistaken.
Maybe we are not consistent, but hey, guess what, you get what you pay for, and we do the best we can. I think (hope) that by now most people on here know what to expect from us. Just go by the "Golden Rule", treat others as you would wish to be treated, and you wont go far wrong, save anything else for Facebook. I wouldnt wish to be called a tosser, so that's my moral reference in this sort of thing.

are moderators not capable of accepting some constructive criticism? or are we all supposed to cower in fear at the thought of upsetting you?

i give up. i thought i put my argument to you very respectfully given your job on here and this is what i get back. as i say my defence is if the o/p starts along this vein they should expect to receive what they give. you have taken what was a general thought and opinion personally and overreacted, and for which i suppose i am now going to get a ban. i don't want to be called a whinging pom, but that does not seem to matter.

I know yeah, draconian or what. I agree with you rae, you were respectful and that term "whingeing pohm" is an offensive term and I don't blame you if you don't like it being hurled at you, not even in a general way.

Well, the OP did want to give us something to real moan about. Though I'm not sure how an incoherent rant on the internet counts as real. Anyway - don't you have some coppers codes such as charlie foxtrot for complete f***wit; try using those as insults instead.

This does not single out a poster. It is merely a generalisation such as, for example, directing the comment, "whinging, whinning, limey, poms and luddites" to the users of an internet forum.

Surely they're all just shortened versions of their country of origin and should cause no offence?

As I recall from trips to SE Asia, newspapers routinely use "Pak".

As you probably know by now, if you want to give constructive criticism then private messaging is the accepted medium, not posting on the forum.

Anyway, there has been more than enough discussion of moderation on this thread, if you lot want to defend yourselves from the scurrilous accusations against you go ahead, but leave us mods out of it now.

Nothing wrong with it if an Australian says it because in Australia it always has just been a shortening....like we shorten all words....but in the UK the term Paki has been hijacked and taken on a much more sinister race based tone with a lot of British...so is best avoided there IMO....but then I'm not British so you lot may know more about it...
