Im off to London for a month for work. Arrive on Sept 27. Will be in a one bed apartment in Waterloo for about 5 weeks. Wll be using the northern line to get to Hendon Police College daily.
Any suggestions as to what do and not to do while there would be appreciated....beyond Big Ben and the Palace that is, ive been there and done that.

If you are interested in military stuff, then the War Museum is a must-see, but I don't recommend the Army Museum -- I visited last year and found it disappointing. Wellington House, on the other hand, is well worth a visit, although the entrance fee is a bit steep for such a small museum.

I haven't been to the Imperial War Museum for a couple of years now but then they had Blitz experience and the 1940's house. While you are in the area you could stroll down to Lambeth Bridge and see Lambeth Palace, St Mary's Church next to it is now a gardening museum, you can see Captain Bligh's (of The Bounty) tomb in the churchyard. His house is opposite the Imperial War Museum. The cabinet war rooms can be visited on Whitehall, I believe
and Winston Churchill's home in Chartwell, Kent is worth a visit too.

Speaking of tombs, Highgate Cemetery is well worth a visit if you're into dead people.
They were quite interesting, though I'm not sure whether they're worth the money unless you're interested in Churchill.
There's also the Paddock war rooms, but they're only open two or three days a year. The one time I was in London while they were open I had to work.

apologies if someone has already suggested, but I only roughly went through the last 7 pages......
take a train from London to Cambridge, shouldn't be that long....as it only takes an hour to drive it.....and have a lovely walk around all the colleges, go on a river punt, its worth paying a guy to punt for u was 25 quid a few years ago, he will give u the talk on the history of the colleges....we lived near Cambridge for 20 odd years and never did it.....we went back to visit family and friends and took the trip, it was so much fun!!
