Weekend plans?

I’ve got a smashing weekend to look forward to. :(
Not only are we’re going to have people come over next week for a meal, I’ve now been informed that we’re going to go downtown tomorrow to look for new “art work’ [pictures] for the living room as we have to replace my Darren Anderton, signed and framed, Tottenham shirt. Apparently it doesn’t provide the place with the right tone anymore. I don’t like shopping at the best of times and it does rather put a spanner in my plans to do naff all tomorrow.

On Sunday some vindictive bastard has invited us to a Super bowl party, which I’m not looking forward to, as hate American football and the last time I went to one, a long time ago, it didn’t go well. I suppose I just take some booze and hope they've got chicken wings. So all in all that’s my weekend buggered.

Anyone else got any plans?

HID’s idea of shopping is like doing a triathlon, there’s no stopping off for a cheeky pint and you have to keep going and going until you find the right thing. Which is going to be hard on this occasion as she’s much more sophisticated and cultured than me but will insist that I have an opinion and just agreeing with her choice, doesn’t apparently satisfy. The whole thing’s a recipe for disaster and to be honest I’m intending to employ some delaying tactics tomorrow morning although she’s wised up to most of them.

You should get your retaliation in first and invite them round to watch the rugby on Saturday. You could do that before shopping.

When you come to take down Darren Anderton's shirt chances are that you'll somehow get vicariously injured, so if you do that on Saturday morning, you'll be able to spend the rest of the weekend on the sofa with your leg safely up in plaster.

Sorted.

All brilliant suggestions but sadly none will work. On the bright side I'm planning to have kippers for breakfast.

Re: Weekend plans?

My plans involve going out at an early hour tomorrow morning with the kids to see whether Shubenacadie Sam (The local groundhog) sees its shadow........ makes me want to sing 'I Got you Babe'

and

Hosting a Superbowl party at my house on Sunday for some mates from work there will be a mixture of classic foods that down the years have become compulsory for such a party including unbelievably hot and spicy chicken wings, Chilli con Carne, Chicken Jalfrezi and a selection of decent european beers and lagers.

:)

And it's NEVER what she went out to shop for in the first place. Drives me nuts.

Delaying tactics are no good. By now you should have perfected the technique of pissing her off so effectively that she suggests you go to he pub and wait for her.

She probably waited too long for you to get the full collection of England penalty takers who couldn't hit a barn door from 12 yards........ they would have looked good as a full series........... but only if you have a massive property to display them all.....:rofl:

You could always commission a BE artist (ehem) to paint one of your lovely photos, that's artwork innit??

As for my weekend, I've just read that the local cinema will be showing a free screening of Carmen with Jose Carreras. I like free. Sunday will involve wine and food with some friends. Venue and time to be determined.

Savour it. I think I've mentioned before that when we first emigrated to NA in 1977, we flew on the cheapest possible ticket to NY and then took trains to New Orleans, and finally LA. where we stayed 5 years before moving on.

I can't imagine a better way of getting a true feel for the hugeness of this continent after coming from the UK.

Of course there were smoking carriages in those days. ;)

It's the voltage. The irony takes longer to get up to speed, but the wine tends not to notice. It's a force unto itself.

I will be mostly arriving home from a weeks biz trip down south at 4am sat morning. Then I'll be sleeping for the few hours the wife and kids let me before getting up and taken #1 daughter to ballet. From there who knows except that I'll be doing the cooking and likely not much drinking cos I've drunk enough already this week. Oh and snow clearing tomorrow am as well it seems. Happy as they say, days.

Chores (animal feeding, snow shovelling etc) , waiting for a couple of people to come and collect a fire surround and some closet doors that I sold on a local buy and sell site (funnily enough). Paint step sons closet, then probably indulge in some rum in the evening.

Sunday  not thought that far ahead yet.

Thats a shitty exam, I remember revising for mine and you get to the "read the same paragraph over and over again without any of it sinking it."

I also failed. Never resat. Good job really - mutual fund awareness isn't something one casually mentions when forking hay to the herd.

?

You should speak to my husband and get some tips from him...last time he came shopping with me, we left three bags of groceries in Sobeys and I left my wallet at the cash desk... I refuse point blank to let him come any more.

I kept seeing signs that said 'Great Super Bowl Offers' and for the first three of 'em I actually got interested as I thought they were talking about crockery!
