A lot of foreign people have names we'd probably laugh at in English. One of the last German Chancellor's names is Mr. Cabbage.

I suppose this might be considered racist, but you would think when people came from another country, someone might be kind enough to tell them that in Canada it might be a good idea to change their name. I was at a fabric shop and the Vietnamese assistant had her name tag on - "Dung".

When I worked at a different solicitor's office we had a client called Hung Lee. I had some documents for him to sign. He came to my desk and I said "Are you Hung?" whereupon I could hear the guy in the office beside me choking with laughter!

My son once worked for a total idiot called "Rick Shaw". He let my son go the day before his probation period was up and he had to pay him benefits. Apparently he did this all the time!

I also heard of a guy called "Harry Balls".

And at another law firm there was a partner whose name is Randall but everyone called him Rudy. I asked him why this was and he said that he spent a year living in Australia. Every time he introduced himself and said "Hi - I'm Randy!" everyone rolled on the floor laughing. So he started calling himself Rudy instead! And the name stuck.

Then there was the head of the Catholic church in the Philippines who died in 2005 - 'Cardinal Sin'.

At our surgery there's a Dr. Brain and at the local hospital there's a Dr. Death, pronounced Dee-ath, (so he reckons).

I worked with a Mr. Darling, who got a load of one liners from work buddies, mainly from Black Adder quotes. But the standard first greeting of the day "Morning Darling" became a normal routine.:)
