Iain Duncan Smith: I will fight on in row over migrant benefits
Defiant Iain Duncan Smith vowed to ‘fight every step of the way’ for the right to deny immigrants benefits.
He hit out at the European Commission, which branded Britain’s bid to stop some migrants getting jobless, pension and child benefits illegal and discriminatory.
Mr Duncan Smith said: ‘I will not cave in and I will continue to work on strengthening our benefit system in the meantime to ensure it is not open to abuse by anyone.
‘The commission is now trying to use freedom of movement as a way in to start controlling what national governments do about those who are not in work in their countries.’
Britain has been referred to the EU’s Court of Justice amid accusations that an extra residency test to see if migrants are eligible to claim benefits breaches the law.
Labour backed the coalition’s stance.
‘It is right that we should have checks in place to make sure people contribute or show commitment to this country before they benefit,’ said shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper

Had me wondering the same...but such a pity labour never found theirs!
The damage labour have done, will never be undone. Particularly the Islamification of the UK presided over by the labour gang as a way of buying votes to stay in power longer. That was/is a travesty, and should have been shut down at every turn.
Another reason why labour allowed the immigration debacle to persist....easy votes....hoping to extend their voting base. At what cost Blair?
Average folks back home seem to be finally waking up having had enough of the EU, and Islamist/Sharia shoving extremists. When average folks speak-up in disgust, that does not make such folks right wing neo-nazi-nuts....which is the label they know they will get. On the record, I detest such groups, and always have.
But I am equally sick of the types who scream "racists" when someone voices their valid and rational concerns in these areas.....
