You shouldn't be taking this too lightly. The last time this volcano went bang the eruption lasted two years.

Read this link http://www.wired.com/science/discove...dayintech_0410 for an example of what can happen in these circumstances.

Thats why I've told her to head for Lethbridge and I'll meet her there when the skies open again

Some air-lines are doing test flights or something. Even if this continues I reckon some capacity will return in the next few days.

KLM and a Ukranium airline have sent 747's up with no effect apparently, BA is following suit today however airforce planes were flown on test flights earlier also and reported engine damage. I would hope passenger safety will prevail and not financial loss!

Yep you're probably right. I'd hate to be in the same position of the airlines. They need to make money but to put passengers in the air against advice, as it stands now, could be costly too if anything bad happens.

I personally hope it continues for a little while longer. At least through next week. That'll be a quiet week for me as i have clients flying in

The ash cloud has apparently started to move west, some flights from St. Johns to US and Canadian destinations were cancelled due to it. (Only a small amount, 13)

My parents finally made it home this morning. They got a bus from Heathrow to Liverpool and then the overnight boat to Belfast. Just hoping now that my brother and sister-in-law can escape from Barcelona on Wednesday.
