I was going to say 'Do keep up there at the back' as this is now old news, but allowing for timezones I suppose it's new news for you. The joke doing the rounds at home I believe is 'Iceland! We said send cash.......';)

I did post this much earlier than it appeared, but my chair was accidentally sitting on the PC cable, so it got blocked for a bit.

Ahh, it's important to make sure that your cables run 'downhill' so that your posts can flow down to the internet easily. ;)

Much to the annoyance of my boss, who is flying from Pittsburgh to Heathrow tonight. Or, rather, she isn't.

Bless.

My mum and dad were due back in NI from Australia today. They arrived in Heathrow 12 hours ago. They are in their 70's and it looks like they might have to sleep on the airport floor tonight if they can't get booked into a hotel:(

That sucks. Particularly after such a long trip.

Yeah it really does suck. Their not used to travelling (never been to London) so they're nervous about leaving the airport and there's not much I can do from here.

Interestingly, according to this article, the airport at Reykjavik is not affected/closed.

That's sucks for them

The irony is, the skies around heathrow have been empty since lunchtime yesterday and will continue to be until tomorrow (Saturday) BUT the weather is beautiful. There isn't a cloud (ash or otherwise) in the sky.

I know it's beautiful here today too.
Thankfully my mum and dad managed to get booked into a hotel near heathrow but they won't be going anywhere until at least tomorrow morning.

Another slight irony is my OH is in London working for a band who just happen to be called ASH:eek:

Oh Yeah she was taking me over
Oh Yeah it was the start of the summer

On warm June evenings
She would come to my house
Still in her school skirt
And her summer blouse
Talking too long as the night came on
It was the best time of my life
Her bee stung lips
Kisses sweeter than wine
The things she whispered
With breathless sighs
The summer air was soft and warm
Her eyes were making silent demands
As her hair came undone in my hands

This song still moves me for a whole set of entirely wrong reasons... Assuming we are talking about the same band.
