Default Travel advice please for Nova Scotia

Hi
Hoping to visit NS early May - wondered whether we should hire a car and do Motels, or hire an RV and do campsites? Its only for 8 days, and we hoped to travel around a bit, but we cant decide which way to do it - any advice regarding Pros and Cons would be gratefully received!

My advice would be car and motels/hotels/b&b's if for no other reason than do you want to be navigating an RV through small towns or cities, finding parking etc etc.

Hi Lucy
If you are a hardy family you could do the RV route as it could be still a little cool temperature wise in May. RV's are not cheap to hire at peak season but you may get a reasonable deal in May. Bear in mind extra costs such as linen and utensil packs, site charges, cooking gas + HST on the whole kit and caboodle. We considered it when we were here last fall and then dismissed it as too costly but then there are only two of us. If you search the web you can usually get hotel deals if you specify which * rating you are prepared to take. If you want to see a bit of Halifax stay there for a couple of days and then hire your car from there (extra costly hiring from the airport) Cars are not that cheap to hire for a week and when you obtain quotes they often do not include HST and collision damage insurance ie C$700 quote could come to C$1000 with all the extras.

Hope this helps

Tina

Thank you both - have found a small RV for hire and total cost for 8 days is £269.00 which I thought really good - this incs everything, even bikes!!!
Will have a ponder, but thanks again for your reply
