The geezer reports a story close to home about vandalism and what SOMEBODY ELSE said about who it may or may not have been, and you jump down his throat accusing him of electioneering? Has it occurred to you that he may be just concerned for his own property or safety of others in the neighbourhood?

I must admit I find this canadian election more and more neanderthal by the day.
No one seems to have any real policy just personal attacks on each other.
We are all doomed regardless.....what amazes me is that these people are supposedly ivy league educated yet they degrade the political process with their rhetoric.
Canadian politics is an embarrassment.

Could we all try and maintain the pretence of civility please, its only a couple of weeks to go. God damn it, we are British after all, arent we (well, most of us...)
Its a sad state of affairs when anyones personal property would be damaged for displaying a political allegiance in a supposedly modern democracy. The suggestion to park on the street, while pragmatic, is rather ignoring the root cause of the issue, which would seem to be a lack of respect for how democracy is supposed to work.

I find the predictable responses to these election related threads more and more neanderthal every day too.

But genuinely Canadian politics is terrible and I liken it to children calling each other names on the playground.
Barak Obama and John McCain showed a dignity and respect for each other that is a lifetime away from Canadian politics.
It's not about being British it's calling a spade a spade.

I dont think canadian politics is any different to US and UK politics to be honest. True, McCain and Obama avoided the worst of the negative campaigning strategies back in the day. but since the election itself its business as usual with the parties in the US hell bent on derailing each others strategies, regardless of whether they have good ideas or not. There is a lack of consensus. I feel sorry for Obama trying to get anything done now by appealing for cooperation alone.
