And there was me thinking I was going to have curtail my drinking when I moved there!

Looks like Scotland Yard is the place to be!

Ha! The reason I originally moved to 25 The Esplanade was that it was opposite the Yard.

If we're candid though the biermarkt has better beer even if it costs an arm and a leg and the place is desperately up itself.

I think my local at Fionn Mccools yonge and st clair is the best pub yet, and they have great range of beers there

There is, of course, one of those next to the Yard.

I liked living next to this place:

I'm not a scotch drinker but the OH managed to rack up some impressive bills on the single malts.

Sounds divine. I was at a wedding reception in Sussex two weekends back. The food was Thai. Full-on Thai. It was very tasty but some people, probably the majority, were suffering and suffering bad.

Mmmmmmmm - that definitely looks worth a visit - I acquired a bit of a taste for a good drop while living & working on Speyside a few years back, but I can see how it would make a bit of a dent in the wallet!

I was given a bottle of the Glenora (claims to be the only single malt distilled in North America - distillery is on the west coast of Cape Breton) last Christmas. I was dubious, to say the least, but pleasantly surprised when we opened the bottle. Anyone else tried it?

The person next to me at the table changed colour. White to crimson in two seconds flat. I'll never forget that strange choking sound she made.

Now the only pub in Toronto I've drunk in was dbd's ex local in the beaches. A pending trip will hopefully provide opportunity to change that & a google search on 'cask conditioned beer' (the holy grail of beer related travel IMHO) came up with this place. http://www.cestwhat.com/otherbeer.asp Any thoughts from the experts?

That's also within staggering distance of Mr. Catterbury's proposed address. It does have good beer but I found it to be far too Dido-esque, first there's the twee name, then there's the folk acts. Alright if you either arrive drunk or need somewhere to entertain a visiting professor of women's studies and don't want somewhere overtly butch.

For all that, it's better than the dreadful beerbistro which has only the laughably pretentious menu to make it worth a visit.
