Default Top Gear US? Really???

Coming in November Top Gear is going Stateside ... hmmmmmm

Not sure if the trailer at the end of this article helps or hinders its chances.

Not bad, the high fives were a bit corny but the rest seemed ok. Of course the problem Top Gear has always had on it's previous attempts to get off the ground in the US is funding. Not having the tax payer to foot the bill, car companies aren't going to look too favourably on their cars getting slagged off either.

Since they're indistinguishable from Canadians, I hope you're in, and staying in, the UK.

Yeah I'm not sure how to feel about this. Why can't a UK programme not simply be the definitive version internationally? Why does the US think making it's own version will be better....

Good one..he and James May make it for me....whenever there is a review by Clarkson I usually hit the fast forward button on the PVR....he gets on my goat with his jingoistic ramblings and musings. The genuine affection that the 3 have for one another is nice to see.

Somehow I can't see the big 3 US car companies wanting to have their cars on this show if it is like the UK version....

The Australian version is abysmal so I expect the same from the US version.

Never seen a more annoying knob on telly than Clarkson. Every time he opens his mouth you just want to smash his teeth in.

I'm not sure they think it'll be better. It's not the first time they've tried Top Gear in the US either. The problems with the UK version are that the cars have no relevance over here and most can't understand the language or humour.

I could accept that, maybe 10 years ago. Nowadays comedy and entertainment is so widespread across the countries through the internet I really think that supposed justification is losing it's edge.

I suggest you check out the 'Top Gear Australia' episodes if you want to see an attempt at taking something good and truly stuffing it up. They've changed presenters, formats, just about everything. It's lumbered through 3 short seasons and is suffering a slow and lingering death.

Mercy bullet needed. It'd be pretty hard to imagine a worse attempt, but who knows, them Yanks love a challenge.
