Levy is meant to have a preference to hiring a young modern coach which was how AVB landed the role.

I am going to go all out and say.....England is not going to win a world cup for a long time, not in our time anyway...
Shame too that we have to keep outside the country to sign Managers for the national team
Miracles of course do happen...

Look at that, someone not French scored a goal for the Toon.
Admittedly an own goal by a welshman.
Did you know that the French for Magpies is les Pies?
Vive les Pies! doesn't sound quite right though. Les codes a barres?

I think the role should be to focus on training facilities, youth development and scouting.
The structure has failed time and again in the Premier League when the Director signs players the Manager didn't ask for.
People point to the Madrid model but that only works because the players they sign are best in breed. Who would say no to Gareth Bale joining their club?

Sherwood has an opportunity.
The contract is only 18 months. It'll either be extended by August or Louis Van Gaal will be in charge.
I wish Spurs would settle down a bit. We gave Jol 3 years and Redknapp 3 years. I think those are fair time spans.

What is the point in having a technical director at all????

1. Fans say that the club shouldn't be a charity for bringing through the next young English manager. He was given the job because he knows the club, the management, the players and supporters as far as I understand it. Whether he's English or not was not one of the requirements for the position as far as I know.
2. Spurs are a top-four club and need an internationally-experienced manager for their push into the Champion's League. Top-four in what?

Two points raised about Tim Sherwood's appointment as Spurs manager raised by Tottenham supporters during last night's 606 show on Radio 5 Live.

Point 1 seems to have two points. One in black and one in red. You could argue both. You always want the best possible manager regardless of what club you are. In the end results between now and August will settle the Sherwood debate. He has worked with Redknapp and AVB so not a totally blind appointment.
Point 2. Tottenham are an aspiring Top 4 club. I judge club size by revenue as that tends to reflect volume of fans, wages and quality of playing staff. I think in the Premier League we were 6th at last look and in recent seasons by that we have punched above our weight in terms of on field performance. The new stadium will help us immensely in that area. We would have some work to do to catch the merchandising of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea overseas and the only way to do that is consistently make the Champions League.

I haven't listened to 606 for some years. And on the few occasions I did they were very selective about who they would have on the show and it seemed fans who did not do their clubs much justice.
