The comment I made about "We'd have speaking German" was mean't from the point of this:
If our troops would've have taken Fleds approach, the Germans would've have won, and we'd have been speaking German! The really has been taken out of context.
I know German is a beautiful language, & Godwin's law means the debate is lost if you use it in the terms of stating "Nazi's" not that I would do that as I know it brings back terrible memories for some, hence I used the word German!
As you say, you could go out and face the music, who knows what would happen?
But there's more than one way to skin a cat
Like I say, we all have a different approach to various situations, I'm not saying mine's the way forward or the best - just different!

I see no distinction whatsoever. My parent's rented flat in Stepney was bombed in that period and after the alarm was sounded we all took refuge in Whitechapel tube station. I was a year old then.

Yes I got your point right away and my reference to German being a beautiful language was, in this context, pure sarcasm.

Most of his family were murdered during the war years, I have mentioned Germans many times from that era. But never the word (Nazi's) as this would bring a whole different meaning, and I respect that.
You class the two the same, he doesn't. As for the sarcasm, well it is the lowest form of wit!

Again, difference in opinion of how people react to different things. I have a business colleague who is a Jew and he's the nicest guy you could ever wish to meet.

To some the term nazis implies the holocaust. Very true. But refering merely to them as 'Germans' in that era doesnt change or improve anything.
