The bumper stickers that said My Country Right Or Wrong and America, Love It Or Leave It that sprouted all over the US in the 60‘s were about the war in Vietnam, (and many did indeed leave it), and it was interesting to see the French adopted the slogan. Could it be that any divisive issue is going to generate exaggerated simplistic responses? At first feeling I thought ‘pack ‘em on a boat and send them all to Saudi‘, but then I realized my plan for Quebec nationalists had a similarly nautical theme. To my knowledge we haven‘t had a similar protest in Regina yet, though the Muslim community was in the news yesterday. After 16 years they‘ve finally raised enough funding for construction of a mosque on the east side of town. The notion that anyone not of their faith is hellbound isn‘t unique to Muslims, but the way these people protest on the video is ridiculous. If they were to do that in most of the Arab world they‘d be in trouble. The whole concept of anyone‘s God being superior to another‘s is compounding the farce.

The problem with the "put up or shut up", or "go back where you came from if you dont like it" and blaming the immigration policy is that I would bet that a fair number, if not a majority of those people demonstrating are Uk born citizens.

Where exactly do you propose we send these fellow brits?


If there is hate speech and incitement then the same laws that protect the Muslim community from hatred and intolerance should be applied to Muslims inciting hatred and intolerance. There was a point in the video where one guy basically said they reject UK law as its not based on islam, but they seem happy enough to hide behind the protection it offers for "freedom of speech".

I suspect that a judge would not be very sympathetic to anyone arging that they reject the laws of the society they live in, but then you are in danger of opening pandoras box as more and more "martys" will be imprisoned, d more moderate muslims will see it as persecution and become radicalised as a result. Its not an easy balance to strike.

for the same reason many have here, high unemployment, no connection to the environment and local culture, learning english as a second language as opposed to the language used at home (read in the house), poor integration within the local communities, racism, perception that they are not equal.

You know this shit, why do you ask why. Do you think i would come up with something different, something a little spicy?

I hope people with a different coloured skin or religious belief are accepted in canada, I would be very disappointed if they were not.

Canada is more of a patchwork quilt of different ethnic enclaves living side by side in their own groups, with a reasonable amount of tollerance in the knowledge that they are all immigrants. Its not really some happy homegenous mix of people from around the globe and "cradle" canadians.

I would say prepare for disappointment, the same pressures on society are true here, they are just maybe not quite as close to the surface (yet).

I disagree with your assessment that their children will be necessarily disenfranchised. I've visited many schools in Canada and even in those predominately Punjabi areas and the kids seem to be settling in very well and can combine/straddle their parents or grandparents culture with the dominant one with ease.

We have attension seekers, not martyrdoom seekers. We have had the crays, the US has its fair share of nutters, charles manson comes to mind. Does canada have the odd madman?

People are different: they like different things and some choose not to get on with others no matter what. The sooner those that wish to force upon others their social engineering ideals realise this, the better.
