Re: Time for a Christmas thread?
In Superstore's international section, small foil sealed bags of Chestnuts, roasted and shelled.
Not what I remember eating around Covent Garden but not bad. Would make a nice chestnut stuffing. |

Re: Time for a Christmas thread?
Far too late for a christmas thread, should be on to easter by now.

Re: Time for a Christmas thread?
Private Eye Xmas cards have always been very good. Not sure if it's because I've not seen them for a few years or if this lot are particularly funny but...
Spoiler:
More here |

I love this one wherever it's from - there's more to it than the version I've seen on TV |
Re: Time for a Christmas thread?
I rather like this one from last year, for a Canadian one

That is simply magnificent. |
Re: Time for a Christmas thread?
Mods sort this thread out please. Its disturbing that certain BE posters refuse to play by the rules. This thread is about Christmas and there are at least 2 or more adverts on here that have nothing to do with Christmas per se unless you wanted a Kia Soul or somebody else to pay for your insurance.

'Tis the season of advertising and commerce. |

You must have a very outdated view of Xmas.
'Tis the season of advertising and commerce. Now granted the other ads could have been contenders for Super Bowl Ads but thats after Christmas. Im guessing then the Barenaked Ladies song If i Had A Million Dollars would qualify as a Christmas song then;) |

Re: Time for a Christmas thread?
Article on foster parents and the Christmas experience of a Muslim Couple and their Christian foster kids. Lovely story.
https://www.theguardian.com/society/...uch-a-blessing Once the children were asleep, Sajjad headed out on an urgent shopping mission. “We are Muslims and we’d never had a Christmas tree in our home,†says Riffat. “But these children were Christian and we wanted them to feel connected to their culture.†So he bought a Christmas tree, decorations and presents. The couple worked until the early hours putting the tree up and wrapping presents. The first thing the children saw the next morning was the tree. “I had never seen that kind of extra happiness and excitement on a child’s face,†remembers Riffat. |

Re: Time for a Christmas thread?
Our tree is up. Bought from Walmart in 2005, three sections, lights attached.
It all works still. Every bulb. The number of christmases I can remember where the lights come out the box and maybe they don't come on and the bulbs need tightening or there are just non working bulbs. And it's in our living room where we can see it. Previously the best place for it was where I'd likely only see it when it came to turning on and off, but it looked nice through the window. I got a bit fed up sitting outside to look though. |

Not an advert, but I still like this video

Re: Time for a Christmas thread?
No more xmas shopping needed. Tiramisu in the freezer, xmas fruit cake in the cupboard. Prezzies bought. Mother in law really carried away :), huge boxes and xmas bags by the xmas tree.
Kitchen/dining area could do with a bit extra. A couple of shelves would come in handy. |

I've got my gifts purchased, some Christmas goodies and chocolates etc., but have still to buy the fixings for 2 Christmas dinners... oh, and wrapping paper etc. Nearly there - phew! :) |

I made 5 dozen mince pies yesterday for one church’s Christmas tea party. Have another few dozen to make for a different church’s party, where I think I might be on the sandwich-making roster too. It’s my year for volunteer Christmassing again, so there are a couple of other mass cooking stints on the horizon. |
