I've never liked Boycott.

He was chairman of the ex-England player clique who were doing everything they could to ruin England's Ashes chances in 2005. He has always wanted to some how be associated with a golden generation of English cricket that never really existed. Except perhaps until now.........

England have really progressed in the last 7/8 years and now not only is there a pluckiness and an abundance of talent but they are starting to look a class apart. Stuart Broad is producing better cricket than Botham and Flintoff and dare I say it but Ian Bell (the weakest player) actually delivered an innings of significance- although should have been out 22 runs earlier.

It would be nice if we can enjoy a good 2/3+ years as the number 1 ranking side in Test cricket.

Who would you play for the 3rd test? Bring back Tremlett and drop Bresnan? Or play four seamers and leave out Morgan?

I haven't followed the series as closely as I'd have liked but by most accounts Bresnan played really well.

I'd leave out Morgan.

I think if Tremlett is fit they'll drop Bresnan. It's a shame because he batted really well albeit against tired and dispirited and depleted Indian bowling attack. Still, I don't think it matters who we play, we should beat them again.

Yes, the BBC generously switch off the service a few minutes into the day's play summary and it's only on about 5 mins in advance of the start of play. Sometimes less.

If Ian Bell is England's weakest player then they have some side. Weaker than Morgan (as a test player)? I think not.

Just watched the highlights of Day 4 and the way Bresnan roughed up the Indian batsmen makes him worthy of retention for the 3rd Test. That and the wickets he took, obviously.

Looking good for 3-0, strength in depth :thumbup:

Now, Australia in Sri Lanka ... Looking forward to a disaster :D

I agree England should win but I'd go with 4 seamers and lose Morgan for the next one. After all Bresnan and Broad have been among the best batting scores in the last two tests. Is Swan going to be fit do you think? If so perhaps just the three seamers.

Well that's pretty much the series done.

I have to be honest I never saw England going number one in the world at the turn of the century. This one is going to take a while to sink in.

Be nice if we can hold it for a good few years.

Some short pitched stuff will sort the majority out.

India look demoralised and most seem to be looking forward to getting back the more lucrative forms of the game.

I was just shocked about the whole thing tbh and it was depressing staying up late to watch that rubbish. I doubt bringing in Monty would make much difference, if it spins it spins but I'd replace Tremlett with Finn. Tremlett looked terrible and slow. I'd leave KP alone we've got no one better although I might think about putting Luke Wright in for Morgan. Its weird with nobody in the stands, not a good atmosphere but I think England just need to get bit angry and compete more.

I walked past the performance center the other night at about 3 am and they had ajmal and his action up on a mahoosive screen drawing fancy lines on him, so im guessing our batsman are saying they can't read his action! Strange though they didnt have much of a problem playing him in 2010...

Lurch (Tremlett) seemed pretty poor but I don't see why people are focusing on our bowling when it was our batting that failed... Not sure if you saw how pietersen got out but it was just embarrasing really, he'll probably come good in the series at some point though...

I don't think Luke wright is cut out for test cricket just doesn't have the technique... would like to see Morgan play his game and stop trying to bat 'properly', could see he was itching to sweep in the second innings but seemed scared almost to do it!

Not that I don't think Tremlett is a good bowler, he just looked way off the pace in the last test.
