Straw Poll - Salary
#48
scenario 1. I am a fabulously wealthy investor-class immigrant to Canada, I run my own company employing 300 Canadians, I have two ex-wives, a large house in a lovely area of Toronto, a ski lodge in Whistler where I spend three weeks every winter, a condo in Florida where I spend the rest of winter, I keep cars in each location. $100,000 would last me about a week and a half.
scenario 2. I finished my formal education without a high school diploma. Since then I have taken casual labouring jobs on construction sites during the summer, and work bars in the winter. My girlfriend and her baby from a previous relationship live with me, but we can't afford to get married because that would change her welfare payments. However, we just about make ends meet so long as we continue to get on well with the folks at the food bank. $100,000 is so far out of reach that I can't even begin to comprehend what I could do with that kind of salary.
Where on a sliding scale between scenario 1 and scenario 2 do you fall? The answer to your question rather depends, doesn't it?

I'd be more than happy with 100k, but I know I haven't got a hope in hell of earning it.
As others have said the question is a bit meaningless as the area of Canada that you live will have a bearing on the amount you can expect to earn and will be balanced against the cost of living.......................................
However, if you want a short answer I would say yes

For 95% of Canadian's $100,000 is a lot of money.
Many (not most) households reach $100,000 if both partners work. Two teachers for example. Or two plumbers - imagine the plumbers bum in that household
!
However: Caveat!!!!
It's not income that counts it's disposable income. I'm a financial advisor and I've seen familes making 250K who are near bankruptcy, and households with an income of 50K who are going to retire comfortably.
Keep your debt ratios low: it's more important than "income"!!!!!!

We don't know what the OP spends their money on and what's important in their lives so this is why this sort of question gets this sort of reaction.
I think the OP needs to do their own sums and a research trip, like everyone else has done
(This is written in the nicest way possible)

Souvette's decision to quit the military makes more and more sense.

have more serious discussions perhaps?
