You just knew it would be the Canadian guy...This is even more cringeworthy than Bowie's new album.

And now for the rest of the day I can take nothing seriously

I don't know about Space Oddity, but here's an Earth Oddity - for the past week, every time I've opened the Guardian website, my Internet Explorer just closes down after about 2 seconds.
It's my work computer - many sites are just plain old blocked, fair enough - but it's only the Guardian where it will open, just enough time for me to see the headline, then poof! it kicks me entirely out of IE.
Very odd.

Just saw it on the Telegraph site. Pretty coolio.
If you were in space, would you not want to sing "Ground Control to Major Tom"? Of course you would. It's great for us to see that they're not just being boring old boffins up there, they're having a laugh too.
Can't believe you guys are being more po-faced than a Canadian scientist.

He whips it out in front of the camera every time he can.

I think it is pretty cool. A bloke singing? From space? Your actual space? C'mon lighten up. I believe he heads back to earth today or tomorrow. I'm going to miss his tweets and spectacular photo's on my twitter feed. I don't believe any astronaut has done more in recent times to share the experience of livign in the ISS with the world.

It would have been much funnier if he'd done the William Shatner version of "Rocket Man".

In Among The Thugs, Bill Buford recounted an incident in Italy where a Canadian who’d come along to see the match asked some of the football thugs if he should bring his guitar along as he’d heard there was usually singing at these events.

I think he's been terrific and a great ambassador for space travel and Canada. His photographs have been awe inspiring and he has done a spectacular job talking to schools, etc about his experience. I imagine we are going to see a lot more of him when he returns to earth. In fact I do believe that he is heading out to Calgary to lead the Stampede parade!
