Same with weight loss. You want to get a smaller waist but instead it gets bigger. Weird. I blame my greedy human body!!

Re: Some updates.

Incidentally .................

I would not advise you to look at renting in a building at the south end of Granville, Oak or Cambie.

All 3 come under a local area plan where large stretches of the current low-rise buildings can be replaced with 6 or 8 storey high rises, row houses or town houses. That includes most the area south of Park Drive on Granville and on Oak, and south of 49th on Cambie.

So any of the old apartments as well as good houses are likely to be demolished as and when developers get money and permits ................ any time within the next 2 to 10 years.

Or, of course, never!

This kind of development is not allowed off the main arterials under the plan in areas like Marpole, or off either of the other two.

Unfortunately there just isnt always a choice as to where one gets to live in Vancouver unless able to afford high high rents where there are more options.

We look in Marpole area as well. Pretty much everywhere.

Anyhow the stress is clearly getting to me. I never get cold sores except when stressed and have a couple starting. I have a chronic skin condition that largely is not a bother except when stressed it breaks out and this time is affecting my face.

Not sure how to not have stress affect me physically when I dont really have a way to solve the issues causing stress.

I am even having dreams that are stressful so even sleep isnt an escape at the moment.

At least my blood pressure is mostly normal....lol heart rate is high but likely due to the stress.

Re: Some updates.

There are still lots of low rise apartments in the off-main arterial roads that are not as likely to be demolished within a few years, not just Marpole.

It's only those 3 arterial roads that I know are affected that I am warning you about .............. although the same MAY happen along all major roads.

In the summer of 2015 our daughter had finished her 1st year of university in Toronto and was looking for an off campus place to live with 3 other girls. They found the ideal place and she told us the address etc which was a single family home on a major arterial road. The landlord was wanting them to commit. I did a quick google search on the address (actually hoping to see photos of the inside on a rental listing) and up pops a link to a City of Toronto Planning application to build a 6 storey building on the property (property is about 40' x 110' I think (12 m x 34 m).

I phoned the City Planer on the file and enquired about the timing of development and he was predicting about 3-4 months before ground breaking etc. We got our daughter to phone the landlord who gave her a song and dance about it being a ways away.....I looked at the detail of drawings done etc and suggested our daughter and her friends look elsewhere as the landlord wanted month to month.

I drove by the property a month ago and it is still a house. These things are unpredictable but if there are intensification policies in place that have been approved, the neighbourhood can change rapidly.

Not sure I'll ever find a job I like again, I wish I had better decision making ability and less impulsive at quitting jobs.

I guess after 20 years of the building, losing, rebuilding, I am just out of energy to start over again to just lose everything and repeat, a cycle is almost impossible to break.

In another life I think psychiatric nurse would have been a good choice of career.

The further into group we go the more it becomes aparent that adults in ones life as a child play a big influence especially when it comes to invalidating how a child may feel.

Adults do the same to other adults but its not a good thing.

45 years ago when I was a psych orderly it took 2 years to become an RN then another 1 year course to become an RPN which seems like so little now. We got the student nurses as well as the intern doctors doing their rotation through psychiatry and some just weren't cut out for it and it was pretty obvious. Goes to show that insight can be elusive to staff and patients alike. As to the second part, yes, unfortunately we can run into bullies of all ages.

Psych nursing in BC is a 4 year bachelor degree program and seperate education and licensing.

There are ways for an RN to do it as well.

Only 2 schools with a program so need to be pretty smart with good grades.

2 year nursing program is practical nurse in BC.

I am sure its a challenging job if working in hospital setting but still helping people and pays well.

We have a friend who is a psych nurse she really seems to like it.

The folks who faciliate the DBT groups and other groups I could see that being fullfilling as well. No idea what education they have to have.

Seems to be a lot of healthcare jobs in Vancouver.

I wish I was smarter and could get through school.

Its too bad dbt is fairly short. Module 2 startes today and so just one more after this.

7 weeks of module 2. Then 5 weeks for module 3.

Goes so quickly.

Last module will be all new people except me.

Everyone in my current group is 1 module a head as they started in May and I in July.

Be nice if it could be a year at minimum.

Group itself is good. Only thing I have that gets me out of the house and around other people.

I get a bit jealous of those in some of my online groups who talk about being in month 8 or year 2 of DBT.

Long term is best for full recovery.

I dont think at this point, I can ever have a life worth living. I will never have the treatment needed to really live and succeed in life.

Long term treatment is the only way to break the cycle, otherwise it will just keep going round and round.
