I think it's brilliant that people keep on giving.. who else thinks it will reach $50k by Christmas?
$30,255 of $50k goal

Re: Some difficult news from Oakvillian
Our thoughts are with Doug and his family.
The driver will hopefully have to live with this for the rest of their life, and hopefully the court will make sure this person is unable to drive for a long time.

Re: Some difficult news from Oakvillian
The driver was only charged with a very minor offense, failing to yield from a private drive. Because parking lots are private property I think there are limitations with what police can do but I'm only guessing on that. The charge was minor though.
For sure it'll reach $50k. When you add in all the fundraising in rbc as well, Mr S and i think it'll hit $100k.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I would guess it was a split second of taking his eye off the ball and this ghastly accident happens. Not excusing him, there but for the grace of 'whatever' go the rest of us.

About 4 years ago in NS the son of a friend of ours suffered terrible injuries in a car accident. He spent a long time in hospital and is now permanently in a wheel chair. He is now training for the paraolympics and has channelled his energy in to long term goals. Rosie sounds like a fighter and it sounds like she will also have the positivity to look forward not back.
Get well soon little Rosie.

Someone to inspire people in Rosie's situation, and it shows just what can be done

Claire is currently pregnant so finding physical challenges even more difficult. It also shows just what is being done to help people like her and Rosie

As for the contributions, that is just amazing. I'm sure that contractors will be lining up to help keep the cost down on home renovations to make it wheelchair accessible. The goodness of people has always been there just not often in the limelight.
You go, Rosie. The world awaits you and there is nothing, absolutely nothing, you can't do.

Once she's settled down into some semblance of normality I'm going to reach out to one of my pilot buddies with an ercoupe .
No rudder pedals means it can be purely hand flown...

I what a wonderful idea Zoe. I imagine Rosie would love the experience of flying a plane.

Zoe that sounds fantastic! What a great idea!!
We went by the fundraiser at Canadian Tire this morning, it was JAM PACKED. Like, hoards of people everywhere, and the local TV station was there filming. The drum with raffle tickets had thousands of stubs in it, and at 6 tickets for $20, they will have done incredibly well (all prizes were donated, nothing purchased. Lots of really big ticket items as well, including Platinum level Leafs tickets). It was being run by Rosie's friends from school and a few parents and neighbours. I chatted briefly with one of them, and she said they have been swamped since starting at 9am, we were there around 11:30ish. They were all wearing custom "Rosie Sparkles" shirts, and one of the girls had even dyed her hair blue. It was ridiculously cute. That drum is going to be packed to the brim by the end of the day!!!
The woman also told me that they are taking the drum full of raffle tickets to the hospital and Rosie herself will be drawing out the winners for the various prizes tomorrow evening (Monday).
Such incredible community support.
Edited to add, was just scrolling through the GoFundMe page, and one of the donators today was Kevin Flynn, who is the MPP for Oakville. That's pretty cool.
Edited again, the TV crew there was from CHCH. I *think* the fundraiser will be covered on their 6pm news.
