Indeed! Fantastic to hear of her progress, & many cheers for the rest of the Oakvillian family, as well as much kudos to the icu staff & all those who have been caring for Rosie.
Right. That's enough gushing from me .

I did see this when it was originally posted and i've read it through trying to find words, but still can't.
My thoughts are with Oakvillian, Rosie and the rest of the family as you navigate this difficult time... Very happy to read that she is recovering.

More exciting news...
Rosie has had her tracheostomy taken out! After a successful test with the trach tube βcorkedβ for 24 hours to check that her breathing was OK, the ENT specialist checked with a scope that there was nothing untoward going on in the trachea, before giving the all-clear for decannulation. This makes a big difference for Rosie: without the tracheostomy, we no longer have to take a Respiratory Therapist whenever leaving the ward, so for example Rosie will hopefully be able to attend the hospital schoolroom rather than having the teacher come to her bedside.
This was taken on Rosieβs first trip out of the ward. We think we might have to fit her wheelchair with a GPS tracker for when she makes her inevitable bid for freedom!

Gosh, I never imagined that school/education would continue whilst in hospital? Rosie is even more a trooper than I imagined!

It's actually really beneficial for the kids. Stops them getting bored and depressed, stops them being worried about how they'll cope when they do finally get back to real life etc. A friend's son was in GOSH for a year. 'School' kept him sane!
