The right to protest, You can do it legaly without issue in the UK, why worry about it being done else where?

There was a time when it would have bothered me....however in the world in which we live in today, it's no big deal.
I expect little more from regimes such as Iran, Pinko's/Anarchists defacing Cenotaphs in the UK, poppy burning Muslims etc....I tend to ignore them all other than to treat them with the contempt they deserve....no point in getting pissed about it...less said about them the better.
Won't be looking for the keys of the 'outrage' bus....or getting aboard for that matter over this....

I think it's quite funny, actually.
The Americans have this thing about their flag. They're very protective of it and get terribly upset if somebody sets fire to one.
Such sentiment has never been attached to the Union flag. Until news organizations started carrying pictures of Americans getting upset by people burning the Stars and Stripes, that is. Now anti-Western protesters everywhere assume that we all get as upset as the Yanks when this happens. We don't.
Except, of course, for people like Ultrarunner, who don't understand why flag-burning doesn't have the same effect on Brits as it does on Americans.

And it's not even against the law in the US. I believe the amendment has consistently been defeated in the Senate and/or Supreme court unless I'm mistaken.

Don't know why anyone gets in such a knot over burning a flag. The only reason anyone does it is because people get so wound up over it.
