Snow Report 2008!

A great deal of snow fell overnight. There are very high winds. All of the schools in the county are closed. I was disheartened that the driver's side windshield wiper fell off this morning as that compounded the problem of not being able to see for blowing snow.

We may pay in a heavy coin for our current smugness later on in the winter!

We were meant to get crapped on last night. I got up at five in anticipation.
SFA. It's above zero and raining. I think the weather made a small detour.

We live in a very windy valley and our driveway upto the highway is very exposed at the top. Last year we had to regularly plough the top end of the drive even though it hadn't snowed for days because of the drifting.
So this year we have put up a snow fence which is designed to create the drift where we want it - not in the middle of our roadway! They come in all sorts of material, ours is a striking orange plastic.
First snow today - Dec 1st. Only about 1/2 inch though

Well, still here in the rainy city - and guess what - it's raining!!!
The north shore mountains have had all the snow rained away - well for skiing htat is....
14 day forcast however says we're in for a cold spell next week and snow - it is 'said' it will be -7 from next Wednesday through the w/end, and it will be snowing!
Hopefully that will help both the N Shore, but also Whistler where I heard it has been raining even high up on the hill....

Its just stopped. We bought a blade to go on our sit on lawnmower to help clear the snow amongst other things, but guess what it is still in its box!!

Red Deer is currently experiencing 'flurries', not sure if we'll get much - i'll keep you posted

I know we're not going to get that downtown Van, but would just love to see snow on the North Shore as the mountains are still not open for skiing, and Whistler still hasn't got any snow on the bottom half of the mountain....
May go Ice Skating on Grouse this w/end however, but I'll end up on my *rse for most of it I know!!!!

The flurries finished 30 mins after they started - I have a feeling they'll sneak back in the middle of the night though
