Snooker - quality

At the risk of seeming dated. The Centennial, over the chicken place opposite Sam the Record Man on Yonge, used to have a great 10 reds knock out tournament on Sunday afternoons. Winning several hundred dollars for coming third was the highlight of my career. I then switched to 8 and 9 ball which was easier money, if more likely to result in bruises. Losing the kids' winter coat money at 8 ball was the lowlight of that phase.

No ones mentioned the other Canadian snooker pro of that era. The "grinder" and the lager swilling "Bill" were playing with "Kirk Stevens". Anyone remember him?

Didn't Kirk Stevens also cite a medical condition on his neck which meant he had to wear flamboyant open collars?

I love watching snooker - my Dad and I went to watch at least one session of the World Championships in Sheffield every year from 1993 (when I was 12!) to 2008, with the exception of 2004 as I was in Canada. I missed it last year and I'm missing it again this year of course, but thanks to the good old BBC I'm keeping up to date on the iPlayer and the website. There are some great personalities in the game and I've seen some fantastic matches over the years - the most entertaining player for me is still Ronnie O'Sullivan, love him or hate him, on his day he can produce some amazing moments at the table.
Which reminds me, I'm going to text my Dad and find out if he's going this year...

Have been watching live snooker as much as I can, it's great to see that the wrinkles (aka Steve Davis is still in the tournament) have been putting the young upstarts in their place. Just about to watch Steve against another young pretender.
