Slimming World

Ok so now its out on the forum. I was a dedicated Slimming World member/consultant in the UK and as we got nearer and nearer to emigrating I fell off the wagon.

I am gonna be really cheeky and ask is there anyone out there that could possibly let me have the website password so I can check sin values on the foods with the syn calculator for the next couple of weeks with all the different foods out here. I need to get back on track.

Many thanks

Ali-simon

if you get it I'd like it too. Slimming World only thing that worked for me. I spent 3 hours the other week cutting out recipes from old slimming world magazines and putting in "red" and "green" folders ha! Unfortunately you're gonna need it too because we all put on about a stone when we first got out here yikes!

We'll be seeing you in the EXFAT thread then???? Slimming World is the only thing that has worked for me too - we still have a couple of boxes in the garage that haven't been unpacked and I'm sure I brought my red/green books with me - I think I should get hold of slimming world and see if they would franchise out here.........

I suppose if they had enough queries they would consider it - I'll fire an e-mail off in the next week or so and we'll see:thumbsup:

Can't you become an online member so that you get access to everything?

ali-simon Mar 14th 2009 4:28 am

Re: Slimming World

I could but you can't buy half the food I would normally use so I just want to work out syn values on the bits and pieces I now buy here in Canada. Have all my recipe books and menus - just need syn numbers. Its about £60 to join on line.

Hello

I am pretty new to the site and was amazed to see SW as a title. We are currently in the process of coming to Canada and to know that the password for the website could be on line is just fantastic. SW has done wonders for me (because I can eat lots and not feel hungry) and I have been wondering how I will go on should we actually get given PR. It would be great to swap recipies should we ever get bored of the same food. Also doing SW in Canada would be a great idea.

With lots of new people wanting to shed a few pounds, we already have the Exfats thread going we could support through there if you wanted?

Exfats support sounds like a great idea to me.

I have been following the diet for a few months now and really enjoy it. I just wish they would start some meetings in Canada, as the support of a face to face group would be great. I used to do weight watchers, but since converting to Slimming World, weight watchers just doesnt compare at all.

I know they have now started some meetings in Texas. Hopefully they will come here eventually.

I was absolutely gutted to discover that SW just doesn't exist in Canada. I need to lose some weight and I no longer have any of my previous SW stuff. I found that it was the only eating plan that worked for me. I looked at joining online, but it's quite expensive, and you can't half the foodstuffs out here :(

I have just joined 'Curves' instead.... we'll see how it goes. Have done WW before but was always starving hungry.

I do it online and have been finding it okay, you get access to all the food lists as well as a syn calculator, food diary and support stuff. Also a graph etc that plots your weight loss for you. There is also a great group on facebook as well as various slimming world forums for support. Plus I have managed to find lots of alternatives to food things if you shop around. The slimming world team are pretty quick at answering queries re: food items if I email them too.

Most of the free food stuff is cook from scratch type items anyway, as it is one of the diets that tries to deter from processed foods.

Fingers crossed they do well in Texas and start branching out further a field.

Wifey has recently taken part in Game On, which seems to be some kind of diet game. Not sure if anyone else is familiar with it, but she enjoys it, has lost a fair amount of weight (although she didnt need to), is much fitter and HAS to eat 5 meals a day.

There's quite a lot of them doing it, and it seems really popular. Looks like most of the women taking part hit/exceed their weight loss goals. From what I can see, it's more of a healthy lifestyle plan as opposed to just dieting.

Dont know anything about Slimming World, but thought I'd just add my 2 cents....

...Here's one for the weight conscious....

Kate Moss comes out with her "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” quote and is vilified in the media as a dangerous role model etc. While someone like say, 5ft. 19 stone, morbidly obese Dawn French with her "big is beautiful" attitude is treated like a national treasure.

Now, I don't have actual statistics and, to be honest, can't be arsed to look stuff up online, but I'm pretty confident in saying that more people (by a long way) in the Western world die from illnesses related to being overweight as opposed to those related to being under.

So, if this odd fat/thin attitude isn't down to health, is it just down to plain old jealousy?

How are you finding Curves???? I haven't been going regularly lately-not getting much time off to do my thing:blink: But after crimbo when my hours get cut to about 10 a week, I'll have plenty of time, so I will really knuckle down then. There is a possibility that my Mum is comming this year so I really want to be a slimmer me before she arrives.

I have only just joined and go for my first 'proper' session on Saturday. I need to lose about 20lbs to get back to my regular weight. I'm quite motivated so hoping to do it by Springtime. None of my clothes fit me anymore  You know it's time to do something about it when your undies are too tight

I think the problem being SKINNY v healthy. Te media does push the heroin chic, still, even tho a lot of the fashion sizes claim they wont use size 0 models. The image they push is unnattainable for most people without resorting to drastic dieting / drugs!

You will find that in a few weeks you will slim down and maybe not even lose weight and if you can't already you'll be able to touch your toes in no time! 30 seconds doesn't seem long on a machine - you'll soon find out on some of them it feels like a lifetime:eek::rofl:

...if the media is so say pushing the skinny thing, then looking around, they're not doing a very good job. I'd say heroin chic is killing far fewer people than "pizza" chic.

I,m not saying that more people are dying of being underweight than overweight - just that the models that the me=media use make for an unnattainable goal - hence a lot of yo yo dieting by women particularly to achieve a body they could never really have and then usually gain more wight than they lost!

The fashion industry does have a lot to answer for. The ideal they sell isn't available to anyone, even skinny women cannot compete with photo-shop.

Fashion people disgust me; they think they are doing something important and creative, when in reality they are there to create a lifestyle image so that the companies that own the fashion houses can flog more perfume and handbags to idiots. Vacuous wastes of space, the lot of them.

I just can't see what any of what your talking about has to do with a thread about Slimming World. No one cares, what Kate Moss said and whether anyone does or doesnt agree with it.

...I'm just curious that so much fuss is made over peoples weight. The fact that there's such a thing as a dieting/slimming industry is nuts - seriously, how hard can it be to keep in shape? Honestly, should anyone really need a consultant to tell them to walk about a bit and not put so many crisps in their mouth?

Kate Moss does make me feel fat, but she doesn't make feel ugly too. I think the waif models do cheat the public a bit.
