it’s not sexy advice but the sleep hygiene route works
no caffeine in the pm
no alcohol late at night
cool quiet room
pre sleep routine
no screen time for at least an hour pre bedtime

i know it sounds boring and hard work but it’s the most effective method I’ve found to date

unfortunately My pre sleep routine that worked amazingly well for me is no longer possible and that’s why I’m suffering at the moment
I am with you entirely on this one, even though I do take a sleeping tablet - I happened to be in an unfortunate situation where a man with a knife broke into my home, whilst I was sleeping and terrorized me and my dog, a total stranger, but it gave me terrible nightmares...not unreasonably. I decided if it ever happened again I wanted to sleep through it! It still didn't work...but it's am imagined comfort blanket, so what the hell...

I never eat late, if I have a drink it's between coming back from work and before seven and I read very calming bedtime books and don't look at screens.
This worked really well until C19...the pandemic has made us question things that we hadn't had to think of before we got a lot older or sick...it's true that in the midst of life, we are, of course, in the midst of some stupid joke that seems to make no sense whatsoever...and it's going to affect our sleep.

It does make me feel even more part of 'the greater community of BE' when I know that while my eyes are gently rolling around in their sockets...some of yours are too! I do believe that we can all do lots of things for ourselves that improve our day to day lot in life, and will give it a good shot...
Thank you BE non sleepers for being in our not so small club

I am considering a weighted blanket. They are kind of spendy though. Has anyone tried one?

I have heard mixed reviews. Buy one from somewhere like Bed, Bath and Bayond or Costco, where you have a lengthy, no questions asked returns period.

I too have wondered about them...do we have anyone on here who has tried one and might report back?

My daughter tried one, but returned it. It was recommended to her by a friend who found a weighted blanket very helpful. I tend to think if you believe in something and try it...it has a good chance of working out. If you go into something, thinking it’s not going to work...it won’t. Just my opinion.
