Do you celebrate it in any way and what is your favourite topping ?

We have crepe's not the huge NA pancakes. I'm pretty boring in that I like a drizzle of syrup and the OH is a prinkling of sugar and a squirt of jif lemon. I've never looked I must admit but can you get jif lemon here ?

Why on earth would you use Gif lemon when you can buy a proper lemon for the occasion? We have Gif as "emergency lemon juice" but real lemons are abundant and cheap and nice to have around.

Not sure on the brand name but yes you can get that type of product here.

Oh yeah - Jif is a lemon scented bathroom cleaner !

I dunno I don't have it on my pancakes the wife does ! I'll ask the question when I see her later though.

If you happen to have a walmart with a grocery section I would suggest you try there they seemed to have a ton of them the other day. (and they were with the actual lemons).

Why is JIF lemon juice made with artificial flavour and lemon washing-up liquid made with real lemons?

Actually Jif is the correct name for the one in a plastic lemon. NA brand is Realemon which comes in bottles and plastic lemons.

Lemon juice is used some homes to disinfect surfaces, remove stains, clean cookers and remove old wax. It can also be used as an insecticide to deter mosquitoes, flies and other insects.

So guessing it's a selling feature of the washing-up liquid and they don't particularly care what we eat / drink

We make South African “pannekoek” (almost like crepes); we have a few fillings to play with: peaches and whipped cream or ice-cream, hubby like his pancakes with lemon juice. Traditionally and my favourite filling is a mixture of sugar and cinnamon is sprinkled over the pannekoek and the pannekoek is rolled up, like a tube.

Being in N. America would you have your pancakes on Pancake Day in the evening or the morning?

At Tea time, with a cup of tea - Proper thin ones with a few currants in, a sprinkling of sugar on top and a squeeze of lemon juice...

I tried the British thing on the Canadian fam last year (sugar lemon juice) they all thought I was mad.

Hubby and his son insist on pancakes every morning anyway so its not as novel as it used to be
