Re: Should Guinness be banned in BC?
Couldn't possibly have been an intentional stunt, a marketing ploy? This bar has suddenly got a lot of attention over something that will be forgotten by Monday, but might drag people in this weekend who otherwise would have gone nowhere near the place?

That may be the effect, but I very much doubt it was planned...

The Guinness seemed to be fine there. I don't tend to drink Guinness much.

I've never been in but a buddy (NI, left footed) used to drink there.
I also knew someone who used to live in the condos opposite where the police used to surveil* from...
* is that a word or just another piece of swarf from Trump shenanigans?

Odd part of town in desperate need of a face lift.
I hate St Patrick's day and the worst thing is it will drag on to Saturday this year so trying to get to Hooters for a tipple this weekend will be doubly frustrating.

I was in there just over a year ago. Retains a certain older man social club ambience which you would not find elsewhere in Toronto.

Can't skip work, not wearing the hat, and green beer is a non-starter. No, no, and no, but I am getting the senior's discount. My Irish ancestors are descended from an English privateer, so drinking a bit is pretty well mandatory.

Ill probably go out. I have no connection to any Irishness whatsoever, other than enjoying a few pints of Guinness now and then.
One thing i do like about Paddys day, (and this probably because i live in a small town like Peterborough) is that all the pubs remind me of pubs in England, very busy and buzzing with atmosphere and laughter (with the exception of all the weird green accessories)
You rarely get that in Canadian pubs, but on Paddys day you see people out and about that would not normally set foot in a pub, and they come out once a year, so its good way of meeting new people and enjoying some banter and small talk in a lively atmosphere.
Plus everyone thinks im Irish anyway! lol.

The green tat is $3 per kilo in the dollar store. And on Monday it'll be half price!
