Well for what my opinions worth...we shipped everything over here...Family helped in UK to de -clutter electrical stuff and stuff not allowed by Canadian Immigrancy such as garden stuff etc or anything dubious on that score
Managed to comfortably fill new house bed wise etc. Sentimental stuff and furniture. Came over via shipping company and filled crate (not expensive really given everything else)...little damage...some appliances came with house but we had to buy dishwasher and laundry stuff...So from our perspective worked really well....depends how attached to things you are and certainly BUDGET.
BUDGET is a big thing...can you afford to ship stuff over and is it worth it?...are you a mimimalisic type of person anyways?...when your settled can you afford to set up again?...Have you got loads of stuff (furniture) un electric wise which would set you up and then that's all you need to purchase?...and also bear in mind those electrical appliances are usually part of house sale in Canada!...maybe not to your taste but in the short term serviceable?
Hope this helps...
